I used to laugh about Conan Doyle being taken in by this
one day my father quietly said “he had lost his son in the war, and he wanted to believe there was something more than this. so did a lot of people.”
didn’t laugh again
@BakstHadas we’re not friends. israel must immediately end genocide in gaza and apartheid in west bank. netanyahu and gallant must be arrested for crimes against humanity. free palestine
The problem with large gated communities is that their boundaries often align with the road, making that stretch of the road soulless.
No shops, no entertainment, no parks, no roadside activity. Just kilometers of deserted stretches that feel unsafe to walk at night.
For residents of these apartments, there is pretty much nothing to do outside the complex, so they have to rely on a car for basic tasks, or spend most of their time indoors.
The people saying they can’t believe this happened are ignoring that it has happened many times since then. Obama refused to release the photos from Abu Ghraib because they showed things (towards women and children) that he believed would set the Muslim world on fire.
@OfficialBMRCL@BMTC_BENGALURU why is the platform area at the Tin Factory bus stop/Benniganahalli metro station barricades? Lots of people wait here in the evenings and now they're forced to spill onto the roads. Please remove these so they have a safe place to wait.
In India, Indians use sidewalk to park cars and then die walking from the roads. Over the 5-year period from 2019–2023, pedestrians accounted for about 1,50,000 deaths (nearly 20% of total fatalities) with 35,000 in 2023 itself.
Vision Zero cannot succeed without safe pedestrian infrastructure. Cities that protect walkers protect everyone.

@bengawalk inspired me to write this
1. Nobody is going to read this map (inside an enclosure)
2. Words like parking, cab etc don't mean a thing (doesn't point to anything)
3. Yellow line should be explicitly mentioned somewhere
4. An extra poster for parking is still needed
In this extraordinary dispatch, Razeen shines a spotlight on what’s it like to live in India as a Palestinian, during a time of rising India-Israel ties & genocide in Gaza. What happened to the India that promised to support Palestine? https://t.co/c4WTrKcemE
