'The Struggle with Writing Stamina'
"...pupils [...] lacking in ‘writing stamina’ could account for an array of problematic causes. If we do not decipher the underlying causes, then we risk not finding solutions for pupils’ struggles."

Since creating this form for people to anonymously share their experiences of Ofsted - https://t.co/0VPJTtLWxQ it has had nearly 2000 responses, you can read them here but be warned it doesn’t make for pleasant reading - https://t.co/O87zHNJhkx
Shoe Inference Lesson 👞👡
Since @Teacherglitter reshared my shoe inference lesson, I’ve had a few more requests for the lesson plan…so here’s a how-to blog 👌🏼

Loving the addition of our ‘currently reading’ boards to our display! Now, anyone who comes in our classroom, as well as other pupils in the class, can see what books we are enjoying! 📚✨
(I can’t remember who these were originally from so please shout me if it was you!)
@LTeacher123@kateowbridge Ah I keep meaning to blog about it. Basically find a 30ish line poem - chop into strips, give out in register order. Instead of calling register, they read their line (after a couple of days take the strips away and just prompt). After a week, 90% will know the *whole* poem 😊
It has been another busy week in the world of children’s books with some important awards news. I hope this week’s round up includes something special you may have missed or a new book to tempt you.

Some amazing answers from the children this week: ‘what makes a good book?’ - we love having the chance to share ideas about books we have been reading, or what we enjoy.
These reading questions from @CassHT are such an amazing tool for book talk 📚
Hello children’s book lovers. Here is your chance to catch up on all the news you may have missed over the half term break. There’s some useful links and resources too.

Spent the entire weekend making a #BOOKOPOLY reading challenge and I am so excited to show it to the kids tomorrow! 😁
If anyone wants to use it, you can download the board, instructions and student reading log here: https://t.co/uqNKhUrzc3 🙂

This autumn, we're asking children to create their own comics starring heroes of all sorts – whether they have the power to fly, save forests or make someone smile.
Share their work tagging @BL_Learning before 30 Nov for a chance to win book tokens!

To help children know which books are in a series, I’ve popped in some post-its!
This is a fab idea from @MissMinoliYear4 that is a small but effective way to guide readers in the classroom 📚
I never post on Twitter - professional lurker - but I have to share these. My proudest moment as HoD - book vending machines as part of whole school rewards #teamenglish#edutwitter
Book Talk has been so successful in my class this year. They love finding out what the question is each week & sharing their answers. I’d love to know if you’re using my questions & what the kids responses have been🖤 #booktalk#readingforpleasure
People often ask me how to get kids to love reading. I think one of the best things you can do is to show them how much YOU love reading! Never stop sharing books, talking about books, and helping them find books they really want to read themselves - and #literacy will follow!
We’ve restocked the book vending machine! And I think it works now 😂
Children who are seen to be outstanding members of the school community are going to be rewarded by choosing a book.
Thanks @booknookhove for the amazing service as always.
