Told by HMRC to use @ICAEW Accountant for business. Except @ICAEW advice given "never worked" but HMRC took years to mention it. About to lose everything.
This is as big as the post office scandal. 10 suicides, families destroyed. The #Tories rammed this through parliament, to hell any consequences. #LoanCharge
Accountants were paid commission to place clients into tax avoidance schemes targeted by HMRC https://t.co/ZujSwLn4l9
Douglas Barrowman made a fortune from selling tax avoidance schemes. When the schemes failed, his companies aggressively sold their clients another avoidance scheme which supposed rescued them from the first scheme.
It was all a scam. A disaster for the clients.
Yet more evidence of the #LoanChargeScandal@jamesmurray_ldn@Ray_McCann55.
We need a proper & genuinely independent #LoanChargeInquiry that can consider action against recruitment agencies, accountants, umbrella companies & promoters, not just pursuing victims of mis-selling.
As revealed that accountants paid for recommending schemes to clients case for full #LoanChargeInquiry overwhelming.
#LoanChargeScandal devastates lives as victims let down by experts.
Thank you @gurpreetnarwan, @SkyNews and Richard for sharing story.

We have long argued that @HMRCgovuk cannot simultaneously hold two different positions for different taxes when seeking IHT on payments treated as earnings. Here the FTT agree with us, holding that there was "no basis for this position": https://t.co/OmehezvjM1
@LC_Impact@LCAG_2019@loanchargeAPPG The evidence is overwhelming: the Loan Charge has caused long-term psychological, financial and social harm.
The only moral path forward is a full, independent review. Anything less is complicity.

In terms of the Morse review I have formally applied for a refund of the Loan Charge settlement assessed for the period pre 9 Dec 2010. However, HMRC have refused my request
@LCAG_2019@loanchargeAPPG#LoanChargeScandal
@ContractorCalc Matt Hall @ArmadilloSupprt made in person submissions to Amyas Morse as to how HMRC had made successive settlement terms more and more penal each time. So Morse was well aware that the banks etc who settled earlier got better terms.
Also of course:
No IHT
No s684
No APN penalties
@ContractorCalc Why is no one surprised? Has this Janus-headed behaviour with big business and individuals not been replicated by various governments and HMRC at different times?
The putrefying #LoanChargeScandal continues to float on, collecting suicides and gongs on its way...
A failed institution's leadership being held responsible for the avoidable deaths of many people. People at @HMRCgovuk should be similarly held to account for their own incomptenence and cover-up for years, leading to avoidable deaths of innocent people. #LoanChargeSuicides
I don’t know how all those senior (high salaried) #HMRC officials (past & present) involved in the #LoanChargeScandal sleep at night.
They do know that their deliberate & unfair ‘punishment strategy’ (to quote Ray McCann) pushed people to kill themselves.
An inquiry is needed
Latest on #loancharge: A Freedom of Information request has revealed that HMRC settled with large corporations for just 15 per cent of what was owed for a number of tax schemes, MPs have been told by Greg Smith, co-chair of @loanchargeAPPG@gregsmith_uk

🚨BREAKING NEWS: Huge new FOI revelation in the #LoanChargeScandal raised by @gregsmith_uk in #TreasuryQuestions exposing #HMRC’s 15% settlement deal with large companies in 2015, as reported by Ray McCann to Lord Morse in 2019. All the while ruthlessly persecuting contractors.
