Sunday morning, Tansu Daylan & members of his research group gathered on Florida's Atlantic coast to watch NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope rise into the sky. The launch marked the beginning of a new phase of work that will provide an unprecedented view of the Universe!

Back in St. Louis, my students organized a Roman outreach table during the lunar eclipse event at the McDonnell Planetarium. Wonderful to see them sharing the science behind Roman as we approach launch.

Zifan will discuss our work on planetary thermal emission at tonight’s St. Louis Astronomical Society meeting, at 7:30 pm. in McDonnell 162, including what Roman could reveal about the thermal glow of distant worlds.

A new NSF REU program is starting this summer at WashU Physics. I will mentor a student to work on the detection and characterization of strong lenses in Roman and Rubin data. If you have an undergraduate interested in applying (or if you are that student), please let me know.
