@jayparsons I’ve got no sympathy for people citing the wrong neighborhood as a problem. Move there and improve it. I don’t want to subsidize people who can’t manage living in an imperfect neighborhood.
@kodacohen@stltoday The comments here show racism and fear are a huge part of the problem. I lived in a city neighborhood and worked downtown for 20 years and loved it. Suburban dad co-workers would declare it off limits for their family. The poorly-run city government and school system don’t help.
At a Tennessee Washington County Board of Education meeting last week, board member and district Superintendent Keith Ervin interrupted discussions to tell an underage student board member she was "hot," which the board initially laughed off.
"God, you’re hot. Do you know that? Where do you go to school at?"
In exchange your property tax goes up 55%, sales tax goes up 112% and services start getting taxed. Your total tax burden will be far higher. That’s the truth, everything else is a lie
@bradchattergoon@_alice_evans That’s a weirdly demanding response. Her time is hers to spend as she wishes, including not wandering down a new conversation path with you.
