This is not just a song…it’s an anthem for life.
“I'm at peace with the measure of my worth.
I've freed myself from every doubt, every disguise.
Even if we win the world’s approval, peace will not come this way.
Whatever is yours will find its way to you by any means possible
Let your heart understand this truth and Jhoom, Jhoom, immerse yourself in joy.”
I’ve heard many versions of it, including Abida Parveen’s famous rendition…
This one stands out.
I don’t know who the soulful singer is, but she has brought peace to this saturday…I applaud her and thank her.

Pana Sankranti- ଓଡିଆ ନବ ବର୍ଷ - Maha Bisubha sankranti.
This day marks the traditional New year day for Odias.
In Odisha, we also celebrate this day as Hanuman Jayanti, the birth day of Mahabali Shri Hanuman .
Maha Bisubha Sankranti holds a special place in the heart of every Odia and also marks the start of summer.
Pana Sankranti is related to new year festivals in South and Southeast Asian solar New Year as observed elsewhere such as Vaisakhi (north and central India, Nepal), Bohag Bihu (Assam), Pohela Boishakh (Bengal), Puthandu (Tamil Nadu).
As the energy draining summer arrives, you must have observed a small earthen pot with a lid and a small hole tied on too of the holy Tulsi plant.
This is known as Basundhara theki.
Basundhara as you know is another name of mother earth, the significance of tying this theki is expecting early rain to save all plants from the scorching heat .
In other words this pot serves the purpose of saving the tulsi plant from the heat.
Odias associate everything with food dont
they?
So our New Year is also known as Pana sankranti.
Pana is made up of varieties of fruits, gram flour but the most famous one is bela ( wood apple) pana.
What better way to start the summers and new year with the best summer coolant, which not only keeps you hydrated but tasted awesome as well.
From the occasion of Pana Sankranti the Odia calendar or Paanji comes into picture, people start using it hence forth for the year to come.
What else do we know about Pana Sankranti?
Let me know in the comments.
