@danspence2006@RalstonReports@Nicole4Nevada@NVAFLCIO Thinking about this a bit more and conferring with people with longer memories than me, Steve Sisolak and Chris Giunchigliani were both endorsed in the D primary for governor in 2018. Pre-COVID memory-holing, perhaps.
@RalstonReports Going the Old Yeller route, regardless of whether the dog contracted rabies, that was probably still legal, though. Man, the universe really lined up on this historical tidbit today, didn't it?
@ringwiss That way it’s easier to pretend the 60th vote wasn’t decisive (majority of 51 plus 9) but the 51st vote was. It’s about safety in numbers and having a veneer of bipartisanship when the divide between majority and minority parties is less than 10 senators.
@JustinNorton@tabitha_mueller Special session subject matter limits apply only to legislation enacted by bill; they don’t apply to resolutions proposing amendments to the Nevada Constitution.
That seems to at least imply only one special session at a time, with one kind of special session (convened by the Legislature vs. Governor) taking precedence over the other if a special session is called by both methods.
The former language read in Art. 5, § 9 said: “…and Legislature shall transact no legislative business, except that for which they were specially convened, or such other legislative business as the Governor may call to the attention of the Legislature while in Session.”
It’s also unclear to me whether they can add to the agenda of a special session that has already been called. Before the Nevada Constitution was amended in 2012 to allow the Legislature to call itself into special session, it had language for the Governor to expand the agenda.
Looks like #nvleg has rolled out a new solution to overblown copyright concerns with committee exhibits on NELIS. Now everyone has to register to see exhibits.
Last #nvleg session nonspecific, I’ll-explained copyright concerns were cited for altering the public record. This session, the solution is to refuse to republish materials on NELIS altogether but allow the same presentations to be viewed by video. This is ridiculous.
@RTCSNV These were not accurately stated. EB Warm Springs to WB I-215 on-ramp was also closed. No mention here or in NDOT’s press release. And the time for the airport connector closure was not accurate. Changeable message signs tonight say midnight 10/12 to 5am 10/13.
