Was unable to reactivate the old Twitter feed so have set this one up for the 'terra incognita' that is South Warwickshire. Includes some sightings from the entire length of the line of Eric Simms Cotswold Corridor, linking Wash & Severn. Will interest few but they will be keen.
Awkward lighting but photos of this morning's Brambling in the crab apple outside my bedroom window & on the grass. The Siskins are still visiting daily although 5 has dropped to 3. @S_WarksBirding#BirdsFromMyBed
A wave and much love to all those stuck in bed today ππ#pwME
From the recently published BB paper, Nocturnal overland migration of Common Scoter across England by @Alexander_Lees et al. First noc. mig. at Colemans Hill by @DarranRickards took place in 2021 & 5 flocks of Comm. Scoter were recorded in March. Two recordings made last night.
A count of 34+ Red Kite roosting in woods at Combrook tonight. At 16.45 in fading light, the birds gathered in a pre-roost βkettleβ, circling at varying heights above the village before finally dropping in at dusk.

3. Seems at least plausible these birds were taken in to the N Sea by recent cyclones and were heading back to the Atlantic by the shortest route, overland between The Wash and Severn Estuary.
1. Our 'man in the east' @Theodec97 has been seeing Great Northern Divers in high numbers for Norfolk all week, with what may be a record count of 17 today.
2. This evening @Draycotebirding found two in three minutes, one thought to be fresh in & another that came in from a little N of E & went straight through, S/SW. The last there, on 28/11 was also thought to be fresh in left to the SW after 5 minutes.
@S_WarksBirding interesting and presumed Leucistic Gold Plov amongst 120 bird flock today. Appeared larger in flight and shorter/stubbier than other GPS but could be deceived by white colours. Phone scoped at 60x mag.
Great White Egret flushed from wooden jetty on southern pool at Compton Verney. My second (same bird?) this week after seeing one at farm pool near wellesbourne. Cropped i-phone shot of todays bird. @S_WarksBirding
1/2 From our panoramic VisMig vantage point this morning on Dovers Hill, Chipping Campden, @DarranRickards and I watched 5 Whooper Swans (1 adult, 4 juvs) tracking eastwards across three counties, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, and Warwickshire.
Unattributed report via FB of a Bearded Tit at Newbold Comyn (Leamington). Leam Valley local nature reserve or Welches Meadow seem the most likely locations.
2. Vis Mig from Colemans this morning with @DarranRickards - Starling 1072, Chaffinch 453, Brambling 20, Siskin 32, Redwing 263, Skylark 121, Common Gull 181, LB-b Gull 67 + single Mistle and Song Thrush the best of it.
1. My first vis mig watch of the season! No rarities, missed the Peg. from Meon Hill seen by @DarranRickards having a go at one of the Starling flocks. My best a F/Imm. Merlin which is likely a local wintering bird. Good volume of passage though, numbers in another tweet.
Fruitful lunchtime walk up to Wormleighton - at least 8 Spotted Flycatcher, 1 Pied fly, a Hobby chasing hirundines through the village and 2 Ravens nearby.
@chrisnsilk Yes. That's the job they've chosen. Not fit, too much for them? Take a break, see a therapist, get back if and when you can. Don't blame others for your professional choice. Otherwise, they have an obligation to treat everyone.
