Today, during the Parliamentary Assembly session of NATO in Vilnius, we had the opportunity to discuss the most pressing challenges facing the world.

I emphasized that while we must continue our unwavering support for Ukraine, we should never forget that Russia’s war of aggression has been made even more devastating by the extensive use of Shahed drones supplied by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

This is a regime that not only threatens its neighbors and destabilizes the Middle East, but has also shown hostility even toward its own moslim partners. Today, it possesses long-range missile capabilities that can reach Brussels, the heart of Europe, while relentlessly pursuing nuclear weapons despite international concerns.

We must not allow this regime the opportunity to rebuild its military capabilities or advance its nuclear ambitions. Preventing the Islamic Republic from acquiring nuclear weapons must remain a strategic priority for the democratic world.

The Iranian regime has repeatedly demonstrated that it does not respond to goodwill, concessions, or appeasement. Decades of failed diplomacy and appointment politics have only emboldened its leaders and strengthened a dangerous threat to regional and global security.

We have seen the consequences of creating and tolerating a monster. The international community must not repeat the same mistake again and again. The time for decisive action is now.
