@islanders_takes @philzfactz Would trading a 2nd be more PALATable? I’d think that makes more sense but we didnt have it so we “had to” give up the 1st.
Plus keeping next years 2nd gives us more options this summer. Trade it at draft. Offer sheet. Maybe 2027 is deeper than 2026. Thoughts?

@RTaub_ I think most people get stuck on the 1st round pick. However, where in the 1st round matters. JG and Palmeri were traded for late first round picks. Sure, these players may become NHLers one day, but the chances of these picks blossoming into 50/60+ point players is… low.
