Did it occur to these boomer geniuses that ending the net metering policy will lead to battery solar solutions that will take the consumer entirely off grid?

I found my purpose early. I grew up in the Mother Teresa Orphanage. My mother worked there, and instead of leaving me home, she would bring me along. I became the unofficial caretaker of the babies, bathing them, playing with them, and stitching tiny clothes. Later on, I took up crochet and began making clothes for the older children. Even after marriage whisked me away to Karachi, I couldn't stop. I'd sit, hook in hand, weaving warm clothes for the kids at the hospital. I still do that even now. All year long, I crochet for children at the Indus Hospital and Health Network and drop them off in a big bag stuffed with clothes. So many people ask me why I bother volunteering, but It's simple. I love children, and I can’t bear to see them suffer. That is the reason why I do what I do. I've seen poverty's grip and felt its sting, and I think that there is definitely a need to give back. When I see a child in need and poverty, I think of how my children and so many others are blessed with clothes, toys, and food, and these children have so little. At least I can give back and help in this. Just bringing a smile to someone’s face matters a lot. It costs millions. This wish to bring smiles to kids drew me to Indus Hospital in 2015, which almost became my second home. I would love to go from bed to bed in the wards, meet the patients, and sing to the children in the play area. As I got to know the people and culture around me, I noticed a need for Pakistan's youth to volunteer. They were not into volunteering. So, I started with the iHope program, Indus’s youth volunteer program.
The kids who usually come for iHope are from private schools, and during the program, they learn that they, too, could contribute in so many ways. They could raise funds from their families, raise awareness, and bring joy to patients stuck in the hospital for treatment. I’ve seen with my own eyes how it makes (the patients) so happy when our volunteers spend time with them. I mean, they spend the whole day seeing only nurses and doctors. They want someone new to talk to about something other than their illness or injury. I would say to anyone with anyone who wishes to help just to come and give “waqt ki zakat.” Even your time is precious. It's about sharing that blessing spreading a little light.
