15 Days of Unlawful Detention of Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Others Following Expiry of 3MPO
Dr. Mahrang Baloch, head of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), along with other BYC leaders, remains in custody despite the expiration of the three-month detention period under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (3MPO) on June 22, 2025.
For the past 15 days, they have been held without any legal authority, judicial oversight, or formal explanation—constituting a clear violation of Article 9 of Pakistan’s Constitution and international human rights obligations. Their continued incarceration amounts to arbitrary and unlawful detention.
We demand their immediate and unconditional release and call for legal accountability for those responsible for this ongoing violation of fundamental rights.

My brother, Ghani Baloch, an MPhil scholar and peaceful activist, was forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces on May 25 while traveling from Quetta to Karachi.
39 days later — we still have no information.

It has been been three months since the leadership of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) was illegally detained.
Their imprisonment wasn’t about ‘security’. It was about silencing a movement that exposed how the state has systematically targeted Baloch youth: forcibly disappeared, returned half-dead, or dumped as mutilated bodies.
What began as a peaceful resistance to state violence was crushed through more violence.
In these three months, Baloch mothers and sisters have continued to hold sit-ins across the region, demanding the return of their loved ones and an end to enforced disappearances.
Instead of dialogue, the state doubled down. It gave cover to perpetrators by staying silent, escalating a campaign of abuse that has only deepened the crisis.
Meanwhile, social media has been weaponized to push the fiction that detaining BYC leaders is a step toward ‘peace’ in Balochistan.
But the reality speaks for itself: things are only getting worse.
