@marcstoeckli @paolebru @Helmholtz_HZI The graphs are boxplots that show the entire distribution of Rt obtained from our simulations which corresponds to random parameter sampling. The distribution of Rt is clearly skewed. The graphs do not show the confidence interval for the median.
In Germany a corona crisis response that addresses the needs of Economy and Health is possible: Our study with the @ifo_Institut shows that maintaining a #ReproductionNumber of 0.75 minimises the economic burden and #CovidDeaths remain at a low level. #BIP#GDP@helmholtz_en
“Nobody likes to hear it, but it is the truth. We will have to live with the virus for a long time."
German Chancellor Angela Merkel urges caution during the coronavirus crisis - saying some regions of Germany were moving too quickly in relaxing restrictions.
@theheikman @simmgroup@rki_de The ranges of parameters are informed by literature. Please see the paper for details. To account for uncertainty in the parameter values, we sample from those ranges and run simulations many times to estimate a distribution of reproduction number using the data.
@MikeDeeeeeee@simmgroup@rki_de The flowchart is correct. Patients in the "Recovering U_R (ICU)" compartment will ultimately recover, and patients in "U_D" compartment will ultimately (unfortunately) die. The fate of patients is already determined in compartments after "H_U".
@psirotkin This is an adaptive estimation of R based on a moving time-window. The high peaks of R result from a long plateau followed by a sudden jump in the num of reported cases. R values are reliable at later time points when detecting & reporting is more robust and num of cases is high.
