For two months, communities, health workers and response teams in the DRC have confronted an escalating #Ebola outbreak under difficult conditions. I pay tribute to all health workers, community workers and responders serving with courage.

While important progress has been made, significant challenges remain. Further efforts are needed to strengthen disease surveillance, contact tracing, laboratory testing, clinical care, infection prevention and control, safe and dignified burials, community engagement, border health and preparedness.

There can be no complacency. @WHO is steadfastly committed to working with the DRC, partners and affected communities until this outbreak is brought under control.

Two months into the #Ebola response in the DRC, @WHO continues to work alongside the Government, communities and partners to strengthen efforts to stop transmission and protect lives.

WHO has delivered essential medical supplies and equipment and deployed multidisciplinary experts to support disease surveillance, laboratory testing, case management, infection prevention and control, safe and dignified burials, risk communication and community engagement, logistics, and border health and preparedness.

Response efforts continue despite challenging conditions. Sustained coordination, strong community engagement and early access to care remain essential to reducing transmission and saving lives.

WHO remains committed to working with the Government of the DRC and partners until this outbreak is brought under control.

Deux mois après le début de la lutte contre la maladie à virus #Ebola en #RDC🇨🇩, @WHO continue de travailler aux côtés du gouvernement, des communautés et de ses partenaires pour renforcer les efforts visant à enrayer la transmission et à protéger des vies.

.@WHO a fourni des fournitures et des équipements médicaux essentiels et a déployé des experts multidisciplinaires pour soutenir la surveillance épidémiologique, les analyses de laboratoire, la prise en charge des cas, la prévention et le contrôle des infections, les enterrements dignes et sécurisés, la communication sur les risques et l’engagement communautaire, la logistique, ainsi que les activités sanitaires aux frontières et la préparation aux situations d'urgence.

As the #Ebola response continues, @WHO and partners are working alongside the Government of DRC to scale up infection prevention and control measures, a critical pillar of the response.

This includes strengthening health facilities and building the infection prevention and control skills of frontline health workers to protect patients, communities and themselves.

These efforts are vital to saving lives, reducing transmission and bringing us closer to ending this outbreak while leaving behind stronger, more resilient health systems.

To strengthen the #Ebola response in Sota health area (about 50 km from Bunia in Ituri Province), @WHO is supporting the government's efforts to bring care closer to communities.

This includes establishing an Ebola Treatment Centre, reinforcing infection prevention and control measures, and supporting the continuity of essential health services to help protect communities and interrupt transmission.

In Beni, DRC, the #Ebola response continues to strengthen thanks to the commitment of government, communities, and partners.

@Chikwe_I, Executive Director of the @WHO Health Emergencies Programme, and @julienmh, UN Senior Ebola Coordinator in the DRC, together with national authorities, @AfricaCDC, and partners, visited Beni to assess response efforts and support ongoing operations.

Good nutrition is vital to #Ebola recovery.

@WHO and @WFP are working closely to strengthen the Ebola response. Alongside comprehensive clinical care, patients receive nutritious meals to support recovery and overall well-being.

In Kigonze camp, an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Bunia, Ituri Province, overcrowded conditions increase the risk of #Ebola transmission.

@WHO is supporting the Government of the DRC to strengthen infection prevention and control. Through practical exercises and simulations, hygiene teams at the camp are better equipped to promote good hygiene practices, carry out decontamination activities and respond rapidly to suspected Ebola cases and alerts.

As DRC responds to the #Ebola outbreak, frontline health workers are applying @WHO’s newly updated Filovirus Clinical Management Guidelines to strengthen patient care.

Covering everything from early supportive care and fluid management to monitoring, treatment of complications and survivor follow-up, the guidelines help improve outcomes and save lives.
