Broad life experience in numerous areas just partly including service in both the US Army (enlisted) and Navy (officer) and in education. Author & much more.
I would rather Rocket Lab takes the time they need to get it right. SpaceX has launched Starship 14 times. None were totally successful. Engines failed. It still hasn’t been reusable. So let Peter Beck do his job. Electron was delayed longer than planned, too. I have some confidence, even expectation that Neutron will succeed on its first attempt, second at the most. Let RL handle it. They know the urgency investors feel. But rushing it before fully developed and ready will only lead to bad outcomes.
@bobcarter101@RocketLab Peter “thought small?” I don’t think you know what you’re talking about here. Peter thinks very big… just not on your timeline.
Relax. Let them get it right. SpaceX has launched Starship 14 times now. They have yet to have nothing go wrong including the most recent time.
The earlier first stage problem was caused by a third party building it. After the problem, Rocket Lab took direct control of building it. I’m now not concerned. Relax. Even if delayed, let them get it right. They are very good.
@cog_lisa@GOP_is_Gutless But, in fact, our teachers don’t necessarily know how or what to teach. After all, teachers were “educated” in the same broken system in which everyone else was also not, or was poorly, educated. Check the book: Education Is Dead: Reflections on a Failed Public Education System.
@dariusprincip@RocketLab “Obvious” to one who isn’t more deeply familiar with the capabilities of Rocket Lab.
Just because SpaceX has big — and admittedly exciting — rockets, doesn’t mean they have deeper space competencies in other areas. They don’t. RL is solid for this.
@AinsworthKeith I agree. A terrible loss. She was one of the top two reporters at Fox and likely #1. Her Sunday show was the only important news show I watched on Sundays. Press Secretary or even a cabinet secretary or ambassador would be a good move, likely Press Secretary. She knows media.
@StupkaStanislav I see one later response as to why Rocket Lab didn’t get it is this:
“Rocket lab doesn’t have a vehicle capable of mars transfer.”
What is the response to that?
@StupkaStanislav Great commentary, as always. It is indeed disappointing that Rocket Lab would not be given the project. Maybe they think Blue Origin needs the money or prestige.
Or not.
Mr. Gold, you don’t know what you’re talking about. The current downturn has nothing to do with the activity or fundamentals of this company. And CEO Peter Beck is among the top visionaries we have seen. If you can’t survive this, sell all you have. But your derogatory comments about this company and its leadership is completely wrong and uncalled for. The company is continuing its trajectory to eventually become one of the most consequential space companies of all time.
@r0ck3t23 Book: Education Is Dead: Reflections on a Failed Public Education System.
Says that education is dead and can’t be fixed, that it must be rebuilt from scratch. Written by someone who should know.
@theisabelb I recommend the book:
Education Is Dead: Reflections on a Failed Public Education System.
For those asking —for decades!— to fix the education system, it takes the position that it is no longer fixable and has to be rebuilt from scratch.
@FoxNews Shooters are consistently fatherless — not having a father raising them to adulthood, as again happens here. But the media either doesn’t report it or mentions it in passing and then moves on to other things.

The majority of posters here — the majority of those in the country — don’t know what a nuclear weapon is and what it can do. The book, Education is Dead (“Reflections on a failed public education system”), picked two educational failures as canaries in the coal mine. One of them was the failure of the education system to teach what a nuclear weapon actually is. That may not be possible anymore since even teachers no longer know.
Without that basic knowledge, how can people competently comment on anything dealing with them? Once people understand what people commonly understood 60 to 70 years ago, there might be a different take on this whole thing.
@MarinaMedvin For some years, I showed this to my social studies classes, normally twice in a row, sometimes more. Even down to today, it changed how many perform it, although most today no longer remember that she was the origin of the change. Yes, best ever. Tear-worthy.
