During the ceremony, Bangladesh PR reaffirmed commitment to #UNCLOS and the mandate of ISA as the guardian of the deep sea bed, emphasized on completion of a responsible, safe and sustainable #MiningCode, and stressed on equitable benefit-sharing mechanisms with #capacitybuilding scopes for the #LDCs. Bangladesh 🇧🇩 reaffirmed its strong commitment to a coordinated global response against #trafficking during the High-Level Meeting on the Appraisal of the UN Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Persons yesterday.
Bangladesh stressed that:
🔸 Trafficking networks span source, transit & destination countries. The regulation of recruitment, visas & #labour standards is crucial.
🔸 A victim-centered, rights-based approach must replace #detention and #criminalization.
🔸 Emerging threats such as #AI-driven deception & false documentation require global digital forensics and stronger #technologicalcooperation.
Bangladesh also emphasized that unresolved #refugee crises—including the protracted #Rohingya situation—remain breeding grounds for trafficking.
