@austincampbell I get that this is supposed to be your version of a stand-up joke, albeit not exactly a knee-slapper, but you're just making the point that even "the left" can hate someone not because of their labels, but because of their actions.
@C_Kavanagh Rip, in the US there are resoling companies so your shoes can last longer. I’m sure Japan has them but just make sure you look at what “too worn” is, so you can swap before then
@robinhanson Don’t we call this progress? “Why can’t people just be happy they don’t have dysentery? Kids these days are ungrateful and just want to argue.” Patronizing.
@robinhanson Actually nice definition. I often ask people what it means to be "offended," because i frequently dislike what someone has said, or disagree, but i have never said that I'm offended. Genuinely confusing for me.
@Plinz "We will create a civilization of the Mind in Cyberspace. May it be more humane and fair than the world your governments have made before." John Barlow, Davos, 1996
@Plinz We predict utopia during tech transition and forget that the basal human drive is written in our genes and worms its way into every eventuality. We otherise and rationalize our treatment of each other. My prediction is the future will look familiar. Same book different cover.
