"There should be a clear, categorical, & uncompromising message from the international community that the steps the TPLF & its backers in Asmara are taking to tear up the Pretoria Agreement in a violent & potentially irreversible manner are unacceptable."

People staying on the line to cast their vote even after a mid-night must be perplexing for outsiders who were busy propagating propaganda last few days.
The message is loud and clear: Ethiopia’s destiny is decided by its own people — not by outsiders, not by fake narratives!

Delivered remarks at the IEA High-Level Energy Transition Dialogue @IEA HQ today.
Highlighted #Ethiopia’s conviction that green transition and sustainable development go hand in hand, alongside a clear focus on energy sovereignty. Nearly 95% of our electricity already comes from renewable sources, led by hydropower, with wind and geothermal on the rise.

INSIGHT: Why Ethiopia is pulling ahead — and what Nigeria must learn
Only a few African capitals can boast of the rapid urbanisation that Addis Ababa has had. Just nearly 10 years ago, the Ethiopian capital was a congested, polluted megacity struggling with narrow roads, chaotic traffic, and neglected infrastructure dominating daily life. Today, high-rise buildings adorn the city’s skyline during the day, while bright street lights create the impression of an African ‘El-dorado’ at night.
“This is Africa’s Dubai,” Derege, a local taxi driver, corrected. “See lights everywhere. That (Dubai) is what we are trying to be, and we are achieving it.”

The 7th Working Party Meeting on Ethiopia’s accession to the World Trade Organization is underway in Geneva, Switzerland.
At the opening session, the Minister of Trade and Regional Integration and Chief Negotiator, Kassahun Gofe (PhD), thanked the Working Party Chair, the Secretariat, and member states for their continued support in moving Ethiopia’s accession forward.
He emphasized that, since the 6th Working Party Meeting held last September, Ethiopia has achieved notable progress in both multilateral and bilateral negotiations. The country has submitted comprehensive responses to members’ questions, contributed to advancing the draft Working Party report, and completed 32 legislative measures.
In addition, Ethiopia has finalized bilateral mar ket access agreements with nine members and reaffirmed its determination to address the remaining key issues raised during the process.
He further noted that ongoing macroeconomic reforms have helped create a more favorable environment for trade and investment, both for domestic and foreign stakeholders, and underscored that Ethiopia is now more prepared than ever to join the multilateral global trading system.
I appreciate how well the National Steering Committee is coming together and how effectively the early, coordinated preparations for COP32 are progressing. Ethiopia is laying a strong foundation for this important global event.
I am truly looking forward to this significant moment. It will be an opportunity for our country to shine on the world stage and to work collaboratively toward making climate change a greater priority.
