@Lianne_Rood I don't understand why they don't just put a wax coating on paper lids and straws to waterproof them. It works fine for paper cups. You can reuse a paper Timmy's cup for a day and it won't go soggy. So, why not lids and straws? Wax paper isn't exactly a new thing.
