@ship_29 I mean I think they’re hoping to have a similar experience and impact on kids that KSP had. They are hoping to inspire the future generations. It’s not unreasonable to project the first mars landing for 15 to 20 years from now which would track with a 14 year old now
@charlescushmn Also looks like you’re running very fuel rich. Yellow flames towards the end is due to unburned fuel. You can solve this by decreasing the regression rate of your paraffin. (Eva is a good first step) If I had to guess, you’re limited by the regulator on your commercial GOX tank.
@charlescushmn Glad it didn’t explode! Very lucky. You’re correct, this is a common overlooked issue called chugging. You need a noticeable deltaP across the injector so that as combustion chamber pressure rises you don’t get backflow. Have you read Rocket Propulsion Elements by Sutton?
@megagoose11 Thought this was intentional… thought it might add passive stability to have the center of drag behind the center of gravity, like a reentry capsule
@DJSnM If you’re going through Utah, the Hill AFB museum has a blackbird, f-22, a dragon lady, f-117, a-10 and others. You’ve seen many before, but got to see them all (in my opinion)
@robertgraham@mightbejell0 I think it’s not correct to assume yield based on equivalent stored energy, the rest of these numbers come from Estimated actual yield. We will see if it beats out N1 but I doubt it holds a candle to Beirut.
@kegrocket Extra context: the flexible hose had gotten way overbent in shipping, when we straightened it out, the ptfe liner stayed distorted. Hydrostatic tested it and the liner expanded as normal. Worked to rated pressure. I think you’ll be fine as long as the weave isn’t very kinked
@kegrocket Not ideal as you’re over recommended bend radius, but probably won’t fail. The steel mesh provides the strength, the inner liner balloons under any moderate amount of pressure until it’s held in check by the weave.
Source: tested a similarly bent line for a hybrid to 1000psi.
