@Samstricko181 I like a lot of what you do Sam but I think the idea that some or any SEND children are helpless is really damaging and at best a really poor choice of wording.
We reflect on what’s been a very tough week after our @FAVaseHQ game today.
Heartfelt Tributes to Dale Harris, what a club…..His legacy will live on ❤️💔
A huge fixture and an emotional occasion.
This Saturday, we are back on The Road to Wembley, as we host @NorthShieldsFC in The FA Vase round of 32.
The day will of course be our opportunity to remember Dale and pay our tributes.
We hope you can join us.
@PaulGarvey4@TTRadioOfficial@michaelgove Are you insinuating I’m a right wing give supporter without knowing anything about me? Assuming I’ve misunderstood that i don’t think hearing about his time in post and understanding his views out of office is a bad thing… I doubt I will agree with much but keen to hear.
@UnofficialOA@adam_voigt@HazleMitch @Strickomaster Have you tried understanding others points of view and accepting there are multiple ways of doing things? Everything seems so arbitrary and extreme on edutwitter. Surely you all get tired of arguing with each other like you are year 10 on Snapchat?!
I’m sure this is a tale replicated in schools across the country.
More need, not enough capacity but a desire to do more for those that need it most.
This is the reality of trying to keep high quality SEN provision going.

One of the key goals at @OfficialOAFC is to encourage more people from the local area to engage with the club.
Turning ‘Latics’ from a matchday experience to an every day engagement. A vital element to that is working closely with the education landscape across the borough.
So #NationalTeacherDay, not only allowed us to show our appreciation for the great work of teachers and educators across Oldham but to build relations with them as well.
Thanks to the support of Chances Mentoring and @ipldab we were able to give out over 1500 tickets to teachers who applied for them to yesterday’s game.
Taking our match day attendance in the 5th division of English football to over 7000!💥
Not only that, we held a networking event for a number of senior leaders in education, including Director of Education & Skills at @OldhamCouncil, Matt Bulmer.
It was exciting to talk to a number of those in attendance about our plans to become a key part of the education jigsaw in Oldham and not just a supporter of it.
This is growing on the already fantastic work being delivered by @OfficialOACT , working in almost 30 schools and engaging with many more across the town.
It was brilliant to have Martin & Emily in attendance yesterday with a collaborative approach with Club & Trust.
Whilst the result on the pitch wasn’t what we was hoping for, off the pitch we will take a win planting the seeds to grow new relations across the education landscape.
Thanks again to @callumsiddall1 & Shaun Finnerty, without your support we wouldn’t have been able to celebrate National Teacher Day in the way we did. 🤝

I entered the UK with no school certificate but an immigration stamp...
More than 20 years ago, I arrived in the UK as a teenager with no family support, not much formal education, and only $100.
I started studying English and then A-levels at Colleges. When I asked a tutor to help me with Cambridge University interview, he said:
"You are an Afghan refugee, not white, and not privately educated to go to Cambridge."
A few years later...
Studying at Cambridge and Harvard, I achieved my dream of becoming an NHS doctor and founder of a global humanitarian non-profit Teleheal, and also an innovative mental health service Arian Wellbeing to help everyone in need including hard to reach populations.
It's a lifetime of hardships and rejections that have taught me most in life.
Many young people's dreams have been ended by their school grades today.
My message to them or anyone else is - don't let grades or other people's opinions define who you are. Always believe in yourself and your dreams.
Please consider sharing this message with anyone who might need to hear this today.
The lanyard has been handed back & that is the end for me at @NewmanRCCollege and in the education sector.
Despite what any piece of paper says Newman is more than a ‘GOOD’ school. It is a school of dedicated, caring, incredible superhero staff members who always have the students interests at the centre of all they do.
That’s why when people ask me “is it a good school Newman?” I now simply say, “not officially, but I’ll be sending my children there”.
It is a workforce and organisation our whole town can be proud of.
Thank you for the memories and thank you @NewmanRC_Head for the opportunity.
Enjoy the summer! ☀️
