Molecular virologist/Professor working on things that stop viruses (especially SARS-CoV-2, IAVs and HIV-1 )
My own opinions.

We show that Usutu virus is the only mosquito-borne flavivirus to resist ISG20-mediated inhibition, thanks to a unique domain in its 3'UTR that protects its genome from degradation.

Why do people seem to be getting sick more often now?
For yet another year we are already seeing earlier and significantly higher hospital admissions for respiratory illness than pre-pandemic levels. Are there new mysterious pathogens starting to attack us now? 🧵1/

It was an honour representing the @CVRinfo@UofGlasgow at the @Els_Vaccine 17th Vaccine Congress, here in Glasgow! As a non-vaccinologist I got to learn a great lot about vaccines from all the other speakers! #17VaccineCongress
@DrToniHo@MTurnbullCVR Thanks @MTurnbullCVR for helping to make our lab a positive, supportive training environment. Nice to see everybody's efforts recognised.
