It’s hard to create wealth unless you work well with others, and it’s hard to work well with others if you are unlikable.
Even if you can do it without kindness, rich jerks end up poor in friendship. You can buy friends, but not good ones.
When I embraced this concept, it changed the game for my classroom. Now it has changed how I parent. Kids are human beings that haven't learned all the life skills yet of interaction and regulation. They deserve space for their emotions- just like we do.
Love this reminder of mindset about behavior. Shift in thinking from 'Misbehavior' to 'Missing skill' & 'attention seeking' to 'connection seeking.' All students are still kids, with developing brains. They deserve some grace, compassion and kindness as their brains grow. 😊

Clear is kind. Students need practice and daily reminders. When they know what's expected, they feel safe and successful. Beginning of the year is hard, but doing this makes the rest of the year lighter.
