Beyond angry at Labourโs treatment of Faiza Shaheen. I voted for her in 2019, was proud to speak about her positions to my family, and spent years convincing them to switch from Tory to Labour in support of her for #GE2024
Itโs crazy that X Factor had an โOver 25sโ category. 11 year old me was sat there thinking they were so brave for trying to achieve their dreams at such a late stage in life
@wiIdemount Same, I got excited when I started C1 last year bc I felt like I found a bottomless pit of content I could watch and build into my weekly routine. Not having to stress about what new thing to watch was super pleasing to my brain. Took 16 months, but now onto the Mighty Nein ๐
I started school in Newcastle in Year 5 without knowing a word of English. I was nine years old and had arrived as a refugee from Bosnia just a couple of months earlier. I was one of those strangers our politicians often speak about.
So this is the new great idea๐ค
Iโm pretty sure if Sarah had seen a GP she wouldnโt have needed to have a CT scan, no need to speak to the ENT registrar & yes it could be managed in the community
Why does NHS England always underestimate the skills of GPs

Today (July 19, 2024) the General Medical Council has revoked my licence to practice, despite the 6-year battle that I undertook and eventually won in the High Court to keep it.ย
In the proceedings before the Medical Practitioners Tribunal, the Tribunal observed that, โ[Dr Webberley] answered technical questions about hormone therapies unhesitatingly and authoritatively. [โฆ] the Tribunal was impressed by the depth and breadth of her knowledge of endocrinology and gender dysphoria. The Tribunal was in no doubt that Dr Webberley had immersed herself in the field of transgender healthcare to the extent that she could properly be described as a GP with special interest in gender dysphoria, both in respect of the psychosocial and the endocrine facets of this field of medical practiceโ.
Yet despite this, and despite my repeated requests, the GMC wonโt offer me the opportunity to revalidate my licence within my specialism. So just some months after my win against the GMC in the High Court, the flawed revalidation process used by the GMC has ultimately enabled it to remove my licence to practice.ย
ย
There are between 300,000 and 400,000 transgender people in the UK today and that number is only going to increase. There needs to be more doctors, not less, supporting the transgender community. There needs to be experts with years of experience working with and assisting transitioning people or those considering transition. There needs to be proper regulation to support this vulnerable citizen group. The same number of people in the UK have rheumatoid arthritis and type 1 diabetes - this is not a small segment of society. This is not a niche! These are real people as equal as any other and their number is growing. If we donโt have the clinical experience, the shared knowledge amongst practitioners and the learning pathways to enable us to support this community then we will have failed them time and time again.
ย
Whilst I no longer have my licence to practice, I will continue my work through GenderGP which, in the last decade, has grown to become one of the leading global providers of expert trans healthcare information in the world, serving data to over one hundred thousand people questioning their gender or considering transition every month.
ย
Through GenderGP I will continue to work tirelessly in pursuit of healthcare equality for trans and non-binary people. This process has only increased my determination to do so.
ย
My purpose will always be to care for those who need it most. It is who I am, and no tick-box will change that.
ย
I remain grateful for the support of our members and I am thankful for the opportunity to keep working for your benefit for the decades to come.
ย
Peace and love will win out my friends.

Only a small number of young people are prescribed puberty blockers. Those who are often describe them as life-saving.
I know the distress the puberty blockers ban is causing them.
No matter what happens in court, I will continue fighting for the government to scrap it.
I dont think most of you understand
Those of us who work in human rights & health justice do not share your hope that this is โall over nowโ
Every colleague Ive spoken to believes things will get worse, because this electoral success has been at the expense of those very issues
No, thatโs not what happened.
Labour purged their candidate on the eve of an election and humiliated her in the process.
If theyโd kept her as a candidate, she would have won.
This defeat is on Starmer, and again sums up how urban voters have no enthusiasm for his leadership.
Wes Streeting very very nearly lost to @LeanneMohamad, an independent British Palestinian candidate standing against Israelโs genocide - and for an alternative to Tory policies.
Labour presumed this seat was a walkover.
Just look at this!
