Funding for @addisstandard partly comes from wealthy Oromo nationalists tied to OPP. As @NEDemocracy funding declines, it is competing with the other Oromo outlets to prove its loyalty & relevance to the wealthy OPP class. This explains its escalation of anti-Amhara propaganda.
Concerning that @addisstandard has escalated anti-Amhara propaganda both for the Amhara war and violence in Oromia. AS has been notorious for biased and misleading reporting particularly during periods of violence against Amhara civilians, often covering for perpetrator groups.
🚨 Breaking: BBC confirms mass execution of over 22 Amhara civilians by Ethiopian National Defense Force in Addis Kidam town, Amhara region on October 27.
Government forces killed a significant number of people going door to door and on roads in Addis Kidam town of Awi Zone in Amhara Region according to residents and family members of victims who spoke to BBC.
...
“When the soldiers left civilians were being killed on the asphalt in the town center” said another resident providing their testimony, who said the killing “appeared to be revenge”.
“For any youth they encountered they said, get him, drop him, put him to sleep [as they killed them]. They were children, they were youth aged 18 years old and 20 years old. When some thought the gunfire had subsided and came out they were struck on the asphalt and even in their homes.”
Another resident said government forces carried out the killing as they withdrew to an area called “Adiguami Terara”, they told BBC they witnessed six bodies of victims.
The majority of the killings took place in the “Tagita and Delekes Megentiya” areas according to one resident who said youth and seniors were killed in the attack.
Another resident said there were “three kinds” of killings, in addition to those killed house to house and on the road, there were farmers killed in the middle of their crops.
“They forced out people who were gathered inside a cafe (tea house) and executed them. They executed people they encountered on the road. They followed people inside their homes opening the doors and killing whoever they found” they said regarding the killing.

As the Oromo fascist regime under @AbiyAhmedAli continues to lose ground in the Amhara region, it has begun disarming Amharas residing in the Oromia region, who have endured large-scale genocide for the past six years. This disarmament is feared to be preparation for a Rwanda-scale genocide targeting Amhara in Oromia as a “final solution” once the regime loses full control of the Amhara region.
[Update Oct. 23/24] @Belay_Ma: Drone strikes in various parts of Amhara region have led to significant civilian casualties.

🚨There is a hidden humanitarian emergency and health crisis in #Amhara Region of #Ethiopia that is not receiving any attention.
These staggering maternal death figures over the last ten weeks are just the tip of the iceberg.
To put the situation into perspective, Amhara has more than a dozen administrative zones all of which have been affected by #WarOnAmhara over the last 13 months.
Many of these zones were devastated by the Northern Ethiopia War and violence in surrounding regions which have spanned several years.
To make matters worse, the conflict in neighboring #Sudan🇸🇩 has created an influx of refugees in western Amhara. The entire region is being transformed into a contiguous conflict zone which is exactly what many feared would happen when the OPP and TPLF signed their "war pact" in November 2022.
📌As a matter of principle I denounce all violence against civilians and extrajudicial killings but attempts to represent the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) as a non-violent peaceful opposition party are revisionist and amount to covering up the OLF's historic and ongoing role in #AmharaGenocide. In the 1990s, @hrw documented hundreds of Amhara civilians being mercilessly butchered in Arba Gugu and Bedeno. Since Abiy and his Oromo Prosperity Party regime came to power in 2018, the OLF and its military wing the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) have overseen and carried out hundreds of massacres of ethnic Amhara civilians as reported by @guardian, @AJEnglish and @amnesty.
🚨#BREAKING: Reliable sources reporting several Amhara detainees in #AwashArba ("Ethiopia's Guantanamo") have been transferred to a treatment site after exposure to extreme weather. Among them are: @Belay_Ma, @TewodrosHailem6, Zerihun Gessesse, Sintayehu Chekol & Addisu Getaneh.
[Update Feb. 1/24] Ethio-251: Press statement announcing formation of the new Amhara Fano in Gonder Command structure.
📌"Misguided foreign powers have supplied the fascist regime of Abiy Ahmed with modern weapons which have been used to massacre unarmed civilians in rural and urban areas including women, children, youth and elderly persons, and mothers, sisters and underage girls have been subject to rape."

⚠️The systemic suppression of Amhara human rights advocates, organizations & medias online is no accident. It is the result of censorship, bias & corruption at an organizational level including from moderators who in some cases may have significant COIs.

🚨#BREAKING - Oromo Prosperity Party regime soldiers entered Geray Tekle-Haymanot Church in #FinoteSelam (Geray Kebele, West Gojjam Zone, Amhara Region) & massacred more than 15 civilians including elderly people & women, during a religious procession.
