A CALL FOR ATTENTION TO PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP

President Donald Trump, I am calling your attention to the situation in Osun State, Nigeria, as we approach the election.

There are growing concerns about tension and the possibility of violence, intimidation, or disruption of the democratic process. Osun people deserve to exercise their constitutional right to vote freely, peacefully, and without fear.

I appeal to the United States and the international community to pay close attention to the election and encourage all relevant authorities to ensure that every voter is protected and every vote is respected.

If true, this is a deeply insensitive statement.

But to answer the question of what I would have done differently, I can just look at the UK’s Andy Burnham who is trying to tackle the cost of living.

In just 19 days, he has:

- removed the 5% VAT on domestic electricity (it is 7.5% in Nigeria)
- capped bus fares at £2 per ride by reimbursing private sector operators of the difference in real costs
- pledged a 20% cut in business rates for pubs and clubs (an important part of British social life)
- maintained and adjusted Universal Credit to favour the poorest and most vulnerable.

So, I would have used the increasing tax revenue to tackle the cost of living. That is what I would have done differently at my own level. Hope that helps.

Adeniyi Matthew Adeyemi, the alledged DG of a non existing presidential agency is "INNOCENT" by association and by geography.

1. Pickpocketers are deemed innocent when in the midst of hardened armed robbers.

2. When a dog kills a sheep and eat it alone, he is considered innocent in the midst of lions.

3. When a rapist is caught in the act, his attitude becomes normal if found in the midst of someone in whose house dead lady's corpse was discovered and nothing and everything looks normal

4. A debtor charged before a court of law for being unable to pay a debt of N1m represents innocence and should be considered for a national award and his debt written off when compared to a politician or appointee who stole N450 Billion and entered into plea bargain to return some and keep the fater portion.

Without prejudice to the @officialEFCC case and its strength against the Osun State Government, the timing of its action on the state’s accounts will raise suspicions.

The Commission should not be shocked as to why. Elections in Osun are less than 10 days away, and it had to be now that the accounts got frozen?

Moves like this cost institutions their perceived independence. It is why people like @SamAmadi cannot stand on solid ground when they criticise government today: when he was in charge of NERC, tariffs kept moving lower just before the 2015 elections. The public read it then as an attempt to influence an election. Nonpartisan observers will read @officialEFCC’s action the same way now.

Like Sam over a decade ago, they can explain and offer context, but it will always look like what it looks like.

One may be in power today, but like that former CEO of NERC found out, governments go and come. And those with the powers today could find themselves on the receiving end of same.

And if you read this post outside the point made above, filtered through your partisan interest for or against any of the parties, that is a problem you will have to deal with by yourself. My point has been clearly made, without bias for or against any of the parties involved.
