A full-circle moment! Twenty years ago, Dr Saulat Fatimi, Professor and Section Head of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Department of Surgery at AKUH, performed open-heart surgery on a 3-year-old with Tetralogy of Fallot from rural Sindh. This month, that same child has joined him as an intern in #CardiothoracicSurgery. Truly the stuff of miracles! 🩺

In Islamabad, Pakistan, Bill Gates received presentations from Aga Khan University research faculty Dr Zahra Hoodbhoy and Dr Muhammad Imran Nisar, highlighting impact of BMGF-supported projects in paediatrics, and maternal and child health.

Meeting privately with AKU President Dr. Shahabuddin, Bill Gates appreciated the collaboration with AKU and both explored areas to enhance partnership impact, particularly for climate change. President Shahabuddin invited Mr. Gates to visit AKU's campuses in Pakistan and East Africa.

AKU is proud of its alumni body. Dr Anita Zaidi (MBBS 1988) leads BMGF's Gender Equality Division which focuses on improving lives and livelihoods for women and children in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.
