I was having a conversation with someone about something very similar. He went to his friend to get something, and the friend said, “I need to ask my wife first.” he told me and I was like “Really? Is that necessary?”

I mean he should have simply told him yes or no. He should be able to make decisions in his own home. What happens if the wife comes back and says no? Will he now tell his friend, “My wife said no”?

I feel like he is exposing a wife he should protect instead of simply making the decision and owning the outcome, whatever it is.

Some people think that’s cute, but it doesn’t sit well with me. Needing your wife’s opinion is fine. But your wife doesn’t need to approve every decision, every action, or every conversation you have. Everything you do? Are you a clown?
