Confidence in significant severe thunderstorms is increasing across the Midwest for Wednesday. A 45% CIG1 risk has been issued for the area of highest confidence which expands across Central Illinois into far Western Indiana. Peoria, Champaign and Springfield in Illinois need to be on high alert as well as Indianapolis. Chicago may also see significant severe storms.

There will be multiple rounds of storms, the morning storms will affect placement of the second, more significant round of storms. Torrential rain is also likely leading to localized flooding.

Significant flooding is possible along the gulf coast where an attendant threat for severe gusty winds is also possible.
