Perhaps it was the sweatiness, we'll never know for sure, but I felt compelled to write a blog post about resizing images. I typed it with my own hands too. https://t.co/UKqbL7SWb8
I may have a nostalgic view, but I remember a time when these platforms offered enjoyment and satisfaction for real people, and weren’t just some big game for influencers. It’s feeling very late stage the way the “algo” rules the content everyone sees.
I know it’s been tried so many times since FB (then insta, then twitter) went algo feed first, but I can’t be the only one who wishes we still had “old” social media, where you were locked in with a group of actual friends, sharing stuff for fun.
Pretty impressed by @AnthropicAI Claude 3 Opus. Unlike GPT4 and Gemini advanced, you can actually get it to generate huge chunks of code, and accurately. The context recall is surprisingly good.
As an engineer, if you actually want to deliver business value at scale, focus ruthlessly on the business first. You’ll find the technology is ephemeral because business needs evolve quickly. You need pragmatic solutions that can be delivered cheaply with low iteration time. 3/3
Microservices are such bullshit. In my experience, any sufficiently non-trivial microservice, one that can provide a crucial business process, is so dependent on other “microservices” as to be indecipherable from a module within a monolith at the macro level… 1/3
…only with many more downsides and extremely high resource costs (compute+network+maintenance). As an industry we make many decisions prematurely “scaling” our solutions which is entirely unnecessary most of the time. 2/3
Sometimes I click through job postings out of curiosity for their interview/onboarding policy. This one in particular requires a 30 day full time commitment. Basically, only the currently unemployed need apply.
@halfwrittensong Hah, I have two toddlers, 3.5 and 2. My post is about the interactions between the two of them. Everything has to be *strictly* equal.
How many of these owners are going to voluntarily bring their trucks to dealerships to have emissions defeat devices REMOVED? It doesn’t seem a behavior this demographic will engage in.
Breaking: One of the world’s largest engine manufacturers will pay a record-breaking fine and other costs totaling $2 billion after charges that one million pickup trucks were illegally equipped with devices circumventing CA and U.S. emission standards. https://t.co/nmKunlhTq1
I wrote my first blog post in a long time. It’s about some of my experiences from the past year. Check it out on my newly relaunched website: https://t.co/8ZllXdrasw
@brandenflasch@Rivian R1T large pack 352 miles / $79k = $225/mi
R1T max pack 410 miles / $89k = $217/mi
16.8% more mileage, 12.6% more dollars. Seemingly fair based on EPA miles. In Kyle miles (308/334) it comes out to be about $4k overpriced, not that crazy? It's an expensive truck.
