@JayceHall@Grownded@jkdavis89 Can you explain what exactly I'm objecting to? Do you really think I'm objecting to context? I'm objecting to one thing in particular that demonstrates arguing in bad faith and it's not "supporting context"
@GCBendixen@jkdavis89 I understand, but the church came together in a unified fashion to figure out the nature of these important questions. I don't think <1% abstaining from signing the Nicene Creed makes the result non-united.
@Litchidup@BigDaddyErac@BlushandChaos@JeremyDBoreing I don't think public figures interacting with one another is strange just because they used to be colleagues. Nor do I think it's good faith to decry responding to public statements "stalking"
@BigDaddyErac@BlushandChaos@JeremyDBoreing My guess-the algorithm put it before him and he responded. I don't think it obligates him to take up his day getting into a back and forth, particularly with someone who thinks he has the power to retract an NDA of his former employer. Doesn't bode well for good faith conv
@BigDaddyErac@BlushandChaos@JeremyDBoreing I don't think it's odd that a genuine public figure isn't spending their time going back and forth with someone with 765 followers. They don't have time to go endlessly around in circles with everyone, particularly those arguing in bad faith
@BigDaddyErac@BlushandChaos@JeremyDBoreing Demanding someone release someone from a NDA with a company they no longer work for is...odd. Why would he have the authority to do that at this point?
@Grownded@jkdavis89 When I say unified, I don't say unanimous agreement, but that the entire church gathered and a strong consensus formed. Regarding the Nicene creed, having 2 bishops refuse to sign and up to six initially resistant, doesn't exactly indicate what you think
@10foreword@jkdavis89 I didn't say it was sufficient, I said it was necessary.
You are misunderstood. The creeds formed when the whole church gathered and they summarized and professed what the church already believed as proclaimed in the Scriptures. It wasn't some arbitrary dictate.
@10foreword@jkdavis89 I would affirm there are Trinitarians that aren't Christian.
Is it? Or can a group decide what qualifications need to be met. Is it no true Scotsman to say people who eat meat aren't vegans?
@jkdavis89 I would say the historic, unified Church that built the creeds.
No, I don't. Right now I'm asking about standards and principle. Would you agree someone can express adherence to Jesus' teaching, but if they reject them whether in practice or in thought they aren't actually?
@baine53@jkdavis89 Thank you. Along with the apostles and prophets, I find there to be great importance to not let trite platitudes to crowd out God's self-revelation.
@baine53@jkdavis89 If you say I need to believe what John 3:16 says, can I import my own concepts on each word? When it talks of belief in Christ, can I believe in Christ-consciousness teaching? When it speaks of the Father, can I substitute that for Baal?
@jkdavis89 1. I don't think the Church has to cede the authority to determine what makes a person a Christian to a dictionary editor.
2. But based on this, would you say someone can profess belief in Christ's teaching but actually rejecting them and be a Christian?
@baine53@jkdavis89 So believe that Jesus is the eternally begotten, not made, Son of the Father: God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God?
