Day 1: "We went to @PantryPackers in Jerusalem. My husband, kids, and I helped bag hundreds of packages of yellow peas. This amazing nonprofit provides food to 37,000 food-insecure families across Israel."
Meet @SaraAeder, JCRC-NY Dir. of Israel & Jewish Affairs. Sara just arrived in Israel and will be sharing her experiences of touring Eretz Israel with her family over the coming days. Stay tuned!
Watching the House Committee on Education & the Workforce hearing about antisemitism in K-12. So far, all I know is I want Chairman Bean to introduce me in every room I enter.
Whatโs going on at Columbia is atrocious. Openly supporting Hamas and endorsing the rapes and massacre of October 7 is promoting violence, not peaceful protest.
Now, Jewish students are being told to return home for fear of their safety.
As a graduate of @CC_Columbia and a former adjunct professor @ColumbiaSIPA, I am beyond dismayed at the crisis that is happening at my alma mater. Our statement by @NYCJewishCaucus below๐
My heart breaks at the idea that Jewish students would leave Columbiaโs campus to protect their safety.
The university must ensure that students are safe and that they know they are welcome and wanted on campus. 1/
Had the honor of presenting today at the inaugural conference for NYUโs Center for the Study of Antisemitism. It was an honor to speak about my doctoral research on Jewish student belonging, as well as suggest areas for further research in the educational landscape.
It was an absolute delight to visit the Boro Park Seder Matzah Factory w an incredible contingent of interfaith leaders. Thank you to @Avi_Greenstein and @bpjcc, and my wonderful @JCRCNY colleagues @MarkTreyger718 and @rabbob1 for infusing the tour with wisdom and love.
As the daughter and granddaughter of Holocaust survivors from Hungary, nothing meant more to me than to be w/ hundreds of survivors for our model Seder & hear their stories. Thank you @NYCSpeakerAdams@EricDinowitzNYC@JCRCNY@MarkTreyger718 for organizing this beautiful event.
Iran continues to be the biggest threat to democracy and is leading an axis of evil.
We must condemn their attack on Israel, but also recognize the threat is not limited to the Middle East. That is why the United States will continue to be a staunch ally of Israel.
As mayor of the largest Jewish population in the world outside of Israel, the significance of Iran's attack for Jewish New Yorkers โ many of whom have family in Israel โ is not lost on me, especially with Passover just days away.
New York City stands with Israel.
