PMDC reported that in just 2 months after its updated portal launched, 5,063 doctors and dentists applied for Good Standing Certificates, and 4,891 were issued.

PMDC itself notes these certificates are commonly needed to practice abroad, apply for jobs, or pursue further education in other countries.

That means roughly 84 applications per day.

This is not a small signal.

This is a warning sign.

When so many trained professionals are preparing their papers for opportunities outside Pakistan, the question is not:

“Why are doctors leaving?”

The real question is:

“What is making staying so difficult?”

Low pay, burnout, unsafe workplaces, delayed promotions and weak protection are pushing talent out.

If Pakistan wants doctors to stay, it must make staying worth it.

As a taxpaying citizen, I have a question: What exactly are we paying for?
For years I have been paying my electricity bills on time. My gas bills on time. My internet bills on time. Every tax deducted from my salary and added to every purchase — also paid on time.
Yet this is what I get in return:
- Load shedding : Hours of no electricity daily and bills keep rising.
- Sui gas shortage : No gas during cooking hours.
- Slow internet : Pages don’t load, calls drop, work gets delayed. Even though my ISP bill is cleared every month.
- Burden of regional war, oil crisis, traffic jams, vip routes and lock down.
We are told shortages happen because people don’t pay. I pay. My neighbors pay. Millions pay. If theft and line losses are the issue, why is the burden on those who already pay?
If the dollar crisis is the issue, why are essential services for citizens the first to be cut? If infrastructure is old, why are new taxes easier than actual upgrades?
As a civilian widow and journalist I am not entitled for any concession. Paying citizens are not asking for luxury. We are asking for the basics we already fund: light when we flip the switch, gas when we turn on the stove, internet when we log in for work. Really need some peace in life.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with cooking and taking care of your family.
I love their content. They’re creative, beautiful, and ‘hardworking’ women.

However, these ‘content creators’ are not mere housewives (as much as you want to paint it like that). They get paid for creating this illusion. They get PR packages, brand deals, and affiliate income.

Most tradwives avail the luxury of a nuclear household, modern housekeeping tools/accessories, and good healthcare: a few things most of their audience doesn’t have.

Every simpleton woman ends up feeling super guilty for not doing it all like them, and every man starts expecting the similar free labour with fancy dress show at home taunting their women ‘look how xyz does it all’; without considering the fact that each woman has different capacity with respect to their physical and mental health. (I’m not adding birthing, recovering, and raising children to the equation yet).

It’s their choice to ‘work from home’, and I absolutely support it. But please, do not call them housewives, or compare them to an average desi housewife who barely even gets a grateful Thank You for managing it all — let alone hefty payments, freedom of decision making, and most importantly a sense of identity.

You received a photo on WhatsApp. It downloaded to your phone. It’s sitting in your gallery right now. So how does the sender tap “Delete for Everyone” and make it vanish?

It doesn’t actually vanish. That’s the trick.
When a sender hits “Delete for Everyone,” WhatsApp sends a silent command to your app an instruction that says: remove this from the chat thread. Your WhatsApp app receives it and replaces the message with “This message was deleted.” Clean. Gone. Done.
Except it isn’t.

WhatsApp cannot reach into your phone’s storage and delete files. Your operating system would never allow a third-party app to silently delete files from your gallery. What WhatsApp controls is only what appears inside WhatsApp. The moment that photo landed on your device and saved to your gallery, it left WhatsApp’s jurisdiction entirely.

If auto-download was on which it is by default the photo saved the moment it arrived. The delete removes it from the chat. The copy in your gallery stays exactly where it is. If you have Google Photos or iCloud backup enabled, that copy is already in the cloud before the delete command even reaches you. WhatsApp has no access to those backups at all.

“Delete for Everyone” was never a delete. It was always just a hide.
The sender thinks the photo is gone. The recipient’s gallery still has it. And they never had to do a single thing to keep it.
