Yesterday I was honoured to summate the new Lib Dem policy 'From Local Roots to Global Reach: a Liberal Vision for Universities.' I spoke particularly about the financial barriers affecting more and more students each year, and our plans to set this right and widen participation
We are not at loggerheads
Ed is reiterating the position that this party has voted in favour of many times.
I saw more people who were disappointed with our policy on fuel duty.
If our conference votes have proven anything, it's that this "civil war" is the battle of naseby at best.
Robert Kenyon doesn’t know Reforms flagship policies.
The Great Repeal Bill “I’d have to have a real deep look into that.”
Scrapping the Equality Act “ I’d have to have a good look into it to see which protections.”
No wonder they have kept him away from the media.

The new EHRC Code of Practice is not fit for purpose. It does not provide clear guidance, it does not do enough to protect everyone from discrimination and harassment and it is not compatible with longstanding British values.
@EdwardJDavey and Marie Goldman have written to Bridget Phillipson. ⬇️
"He's sexist, he's sick."
"Don't you dare suggest that working-class people hold beliefs like Robert Kenyon!"
@MarinaPurkiss calls on @_GeorgeFinch to do the "decent thing" and condemn comments made by Reform's Makerfield candidate.

The student loan system has changed beyond recognition since its introduction.
It would be unacceptable to change the terms of a loan in this way anywhere else.
Really glad my Committee is looking into it and so many are engaging.
This letter is unnecessarily unpleasant, juvenile & demeans the office of MP. Sadly, it’s also unsurprising for anyone who lives in Bermondsey & Old Southwark who have come to expect very little. Do better.
@LambethLibDems Labour seems not to have learnt any lessons, and ended up accusing the Liberal Democrats of “hiding behind big words… like collaboration”. Yes @LambethLabour it’s sorely obvious that you don’t know the meaning of that word. (3/3)
Ofsted have found very good progress being made in Liberal Democrat lead Devon County Council's Children's services after years of failure under the Tories.

It is insulting to every working class family to suggest that it’s somehow part of our culture to be vile, nasty and sexist and that anyone appalled at the Reform candidate in Makerfield’s comments is somekind of middle class pearl clutcher.
I love how one of the top arguments agaisnt PR is that FPTP produces strong and stable governments by preventing coalitions.
Meanwhile the last Parliament to last its full term under the one PM was the coalition… FPTP’s huge majorities has us on potentially a 5th PM in 5 years.
A speaker at last Saturday's far-right rally pointed at Parliament and demanded Islam be removed from this building.
Lib Dem peer @shaffaqmohd brought that moment to the Lords and what it meant for his sons who serve this country.
The immigration minister couldn't say how tall the London Eye is — yet it's a question migrants must answer to settle in Britain.
Don Foster, Lib Dem peer and chair of the Justice and Home Affairs Committee, challenged him on it.
New Lib Dem Peer Rhiannon Leaman made her maiden speech yesterday evening, calling for urgent reform of the SEND system and drawing on her own experience as a parent. Here's what she said. 🧵
Rhiannon Leaman's maiden speech was personal as well as political.
As a parent, she knows first-hand what it means to wait years for a diagnosis. She spoke for every family still fighting a system that was supposed to be on their side.
Liberal Democrats have always been clear that Britain’s future lies back in the EU, and we have a credible plan to get there - starting with a UK-EU customs union.
250,000 miscarriages happen in the UK every year, but you have to suffer three or more before you get any extra support.
@CarolinePidgeon is pushing the government to act earlier.
The argument that FPTP delivers stable governments is surely now dead.
Massive majorities drawn from minority support will keep ending up this way.
It's time our electoral system caught up with our political reality.
