Because of the extreme heat, Capitol Police say the public is not allowed to attend tonight's rehearsal for "A Capitol Fourth Concert." The concert is scheduled for Friday, July 3rd, and they plan to announce whether the heat will cancel the concert or if it's still on by tomorrow at 10am.
With extreme heat like we’re currently experiencing, rail temperatures can soar above 135°F, which may cause bends in the rail due to thermal expansion.
For years, Metro has monitored rail temps on “heat rides” to detect track issues before they happen.
This year, we’re adding something new: applying reflective white paint to vulnerable segments, which lowers temps.
With over 6,000 feet treated, we’re enhancing track lifespan and boosting safety and reliability! Here’s the team in action 💪
