@jaffer_fatema Thank you so much Fatema! We're doing okay. Our neighbors on the third floor have lost thier homes. If there's community action for them I will post that!
My building caught fire tonight. We are out okay with all our pets. So are our neighbors. Staying at my parent's place until we are allowed to go see the damage. Feels surreal.
Me and Angela got out with all FIVE pets in only minutes because my amazing BFF helped me make a full emergency plan. I am not trying to be dramatic, but we could have died on Sunday. Instead we are cozy and safe and my parent's house.
No one ever expects the fire to happen at thier house. But please take a lesson from me. It can. This is your sign to check your smoke detectors and CO alarm. Get that second fire extinguisher. Make a first aid kit.

Update: we were allowed in to get things and see the damage yesterday, our apartment is fine and we are very lucky. No word on when we can go home yet.

Everyone got out. We saw one person get walked to an ambulance. Our super says the whole 3rd floor was full of thick black smoke. We may be allowed back inside to get essentials tomorrow am.
This was really scary. Within 10 minutes, much of the Golden Triangle went from a quiet Sunday night to completely enveloped in smoke and 🚒 🚔 and 🚑s. I hope everyone is OK. #ottfire#ottnews#ottcity
@sidramatik Also after I had surgery I just felt gross all the time. Having make up wipes to wash my face and mouthwash and a lil spit cup so I could freshen up without having to get up was a gamechanger, they may like having those near by.
@sidramatik My bff had the same surgery last year. They won't be able lift thier arms above thier chest or stretch out, so put everything they need in places where they don't have to reach (especially upwards) or bend. Ex: put all their shower stuff on the tub ledge, not in a hanging caddy.
In #DEI, I think we are forgetting to consult with good ol’ Google first... Is it a lack of time that’s preventing us from doing basic homework? Consultation fatigue is real. Party cuz we’re asking uninformed questions. It’s not an effective use of time and (emotional!!!) energy.
Ensuring people with disabilities have access to spaces is not doing them a "favour", it's correcting a design flaw. Your presence is only centred because the system centres you. You ain't special.
