There is no better way to end my time at @BristolUni than by co-running one last friday coffee morning with @KosarZahra and @samirabhac. Thank you to everyone who has been involved over the past 8 months, and those who will enable it to continue moving forward!
Our coffee morning today was bit emotional our friend/sister/Coordinator @SarahSauchelli was her last day she's going to be missed greatly but promised to be in touch. Goodluck Sarah. Our topic was menopause a topic that's not talked about in our communities. @KosarZahra
@charliefishes@samirabhac@KosarZahra Thank you Charlie! I'd have to say likewise. We wouldn't have been able to have even started had it not been for your introduction!
@SuzZaremba With @BristolSomaliRC and @SWSCDiabetesUK we ran a coffee morning to talk about the other versions. The group felt that the alternatives where somewhat better but still not easy to translate given how they prepare their meals. They will run an activity to explore just that!
We organised Somali men coffee morning today part of our Green Social Prescribing project with our Patrtners @BristolSomaliRC, @BristolUni & #Drtomallport. We had an amazing discussion about health and other important issues that the men r facing. Thanks @shibis14 4 the support
A great opportunity for young people to have a say! @EllaHintonP and @JennSCox will listen, follow your advice and work with you as equal partners in this amazing project.
Coffee mornings set up to socially empower Somali women in Bristol after the pandemic is struggling to continue due to lack of resources. I spoke to the organisers and users who said the sessions gave a “sense of belonging” to women in the community… https://t.co/hGEqNpcGyL
It was another informative session and lovely to had you all to share your services and how we can all Work together and support our communities. Thanks @KosarZahra for arrange this and @maz_nuur & colleagues, #nextlink and @BristolUni for the ongoing support.
Another fantastic Friday Coffee Morning with @samirabhac, @BristolSomaliRC, Catherine Jameson and Barton Hill residents:
- Crime concerns and linking the community with local services.
- How should public engagement and involvement look like?

Thank you @YourParkBB and @CommDevBristol for organising Wild & Well - a fantastic networking event.
Great to see the multiple ways researchers can get involved in community action to improve use of green spaces - bottom right corner of @samchurch_ink's fabolous illustration!

Thank you @samirabhac, @BristolSomaliRC, and all the women who join the Coffee Mornings to share their experiences and concerns! The insight is fundamental in shaping the diabetes research we carry out at the @BristolBRC and how we can work together to generate change.
Friday coffee mornings at the @WSBartonHill continue. In May @SWSCDiabetesUK and a local GP joined us to talk about Diabetes. Three key challenges in Barton Hill (East Bristol):
@SWSCDiabetesUK: "Diabetes UK SW were lucky to learn so much from community members around barriers to healthcare, diabetes and health in the community, and how people prefer to access information. A brilliant group to join, we look forward to coming back!"
