Clavicular: "Some people think that Sydney Sweeney is extremely attractive. But I would say that she’s pretty malformed. Her upper maxilla is extremely recessed, right. She’s got the eyes of doom with no infraorbital support."
@SMVinNC@NolesNJ@daveasprey Have you tried reducing saturated fat as an experiment? Reduce the whole milk and ribeye, have more greens, avocados, salmon, nuts… you can still eat low carb whole foods, but do it in a way that normalises your ApoB.
This can be reframed as:
- if everybody presses blue, everyone survives
- if you are pressing red, you are hoping that at least 50% of people do it too in order to save you.
Which one is the nice choice again?
Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?
@macrocephalopod Also, the whole point of commodity futures is to trade the whole curve. A barrel of oil in may 2026 is not the same as a barrel of oil in dec 2026.
For the alt part of a portfolio, there are 2 questions:
- do I generate excess returns, i.e. do I beat cash? Beating cash should be the goal of an alt allocation.
- do the excess returns come from beta, exotic beta (risk premium) or alpha? This should drive how the manager is compensated: e.g. ~10bps on AUM for beta, 1% on AUM for risk premium, 20% of profits for alpha…
I guess these nuances will be lost with Blackrock’s approach though…
People forget how leveraged public investment firms are
Blackstone has $1.3 trillion in AUM
Assume 10% losses due to private credit default, that is $130 billion of losses
Their market cap today? You guessed it, $130 billion
Be careful out there
