- Whether it be adapting the stores currently in the plaza to have more grocery selection for neighbourhood residents or revisiting the Dundas @hsr routes to allow for better transit to the other grocery stores and service the transportation needs of the community

@ForsythMarcia Dundas is under serviced in regards to grocery stores and transit service, therefore the city definitely needs to do some analysis on city planning to fix these issues #HamOnt

According to the SPRC of #HamOnt Sept’16 report, #Dundas HSR service hasn’t been changed in decades. With only 3 busses running through the town, it has become more difficult to get groceries without Metro in UniPlaza. Access to a grocery store by foot, truly helps our community

@ForsythMarcia It is really an unfortunate turnout of events. At least with a better bus system in place, the transition of commuting to the grocery store instead of walking, would have been easier for residents in the community.

@ForsythMarcia The city planners definitely need to revisit and reanalyze the HSR Dundas routes. They need to allocate bus routes according to the areas in most need of transit so they can be utilized to their full extent, thus avoiding these ghost busses.

Since the Metro in University Plaza closed, the Metro downtown is much busier. Most of #Dundas residents are now shopping at the remaining small Metro. Our community needs more grocery stores to serve residents #FoodDesert This avoids crowding & makes things more convenient!

With the University Plaza Metro now closed, #Dundas is a food desert. Only 1 grocery store is remaining in town & there are very few nearby in West Ham & Ancaster. Residents in our community relied on these close proximity grocery stores for weekly groceries #GroceriesNotGarages

In the June 2012 City of Hamilton planning report it stated, “access to fresh food can be crucial to the physical health of community residents”. Our community supports this idea and believes it is necessary to have a local grocery store accessible to all residents.

Residents are able to reduce their car usage and thus reduce carbon emissions by walking to do weekly groceries instead of driving, bussing or using taxis/uber services. #GroceriesNotGarages #HamOnt 🌳
