Here's the latest from @ScagliaSteph, @alissashaw_ & @RepresentWomen analyzing what political reforms are necessary to elect more women. #ProportionalRepresentation is top of list. Women still have < 30% of Congress, yet are > 50% of the US population.

Another example like New York, NY and Las Cruces, NM of how #RankedChoiceVoting (RCV) helps remove barriers for female candidates. When those barriers are removed they tend to win. Check out the work of our friends and colleagues @RepresentWomen for more. https://t.co/PleOx4dtn2
The site formerly known as Twitter has added a five-second delay when a user clicks on a shortened link to the New York Times, Facebook and other sites owner Elon Musk commonly attacks, a Washington Post analysis found. https://t.co/XzgrOjJQjA
Spoiler alert: Most states are terrible.
There is more work to do solidify fair representation & gender equality. And I’m going to keep working with awesome leaders like @melindagates@CynthiaRTerrell@RepresentWomen@KaseVirginia & others to address these inequities. Let’s go!
Who rides a bike in New York City?
➡️ More than 1.2 million New Yorkers ride a bike at least once a month.
➡️ Two-thirds of bike riders in New York City are people of color.
➡️ 3 in 4 bike riders live in the outer boroughs.
How does your state rank on women’s political representation?
Here are our top takeaways from @RepresentWomen's 2023 Gender Parity Index: https://t.co/CGh9XVACGR
Key result in national poll: "One of the biggest takeaways was the consistent majority support for Ranked Choice Voting in all of its different potential applications. After deliberating, majorities of our sample consistently supported the use of RCV for all kinds of elections"
Check out @RepresentWomen’s 2023 #GenderParityIndex to see how well women are represented in your state‼️Two states earned an “A” grade this year but nearly half the states got a “D” or “F” for women’s representation — Maryland, with zero women in Congress, gets a “D” #2023GPI
Our democracy cannot truly function without parity and inclusive representation. As @melindafrenchgates has said “There are barriers to women running for office…we need to stop sending women to a broken system, and we need to change the system."
Check out the mapping of the state scores to their respective policies on how you easily (or not) can obtain your ballot in the mail. May not be cause and effect. But the correlation with better access = more women in the legislature is unmistakable.
Great study by Represent Women- https://t.co/mKFfJsz3Ww
Love seeing how making it easier to vote (like passing early voting law) & making it easier to run for office (like allowing campaign funds to be used for child care expenses) has helped RI make it into the top 10 states…
2 yrs ago, #NYC had a mini-revolution when it elected majority women of color to its city council. Female Speaker & 27 of 39 committee chairs. What has been policy impact of gender parity? @RepresentWomen's @ScagliaSteph probes that question in new report

want something longer than an executive summary, but shorter than a full brief?
check out democracySOS’s excerpt on @RepresentWomen’s analysis of the impact a woman majority council has had in NYC

In NYC's first #RankedChoiceVoting election, the city elected its first-ever majority-female council. @RepresentWomen’s latest brief dives into their profound impact during their first term. https://t.co/iexvUebsWQ
