Just had a scammer in the Pudgy Penguins discord sending USDT directly to a sellers wallet to complete an OTC deal. The "buyer" even sends you a tx showing that he sent you the USDT!

So what's the catch?

The "buyer" never had enough USDT to begin with! So eventually, the tx fails.

Once the tx gets sent to you the scammer starts to pressure you to send your NFT.

- "Did you get the money?"
- "Why haven't you sent the NFT yet?"
- "Are you trying to scam me?"

BUT if you look more closely, you'll notice that the tx is still pending and the $ hasn't hit your wallet. In this case, the scammer recommended using @exodus_io wallet, which included the pending tx in the seller's portfolio value, even tho he didn't have the money yet! This is a significant vulnerability that Exodus should patch.
Scammers leverage your good nature to make you feel guilty and rush into making mistakes!

Always do OTC deals on YOUR terms, and if your counterparty is adamant about using a specific tool, or method for conducting the deal, be wary. NEVER send someone an NFT before you have cold hard cash in your account - but it's way better to leverage official marketplaces and OTC platforms like @pudgyswap.

I'm glad that the seller recognized this was weird and stared asking questions. If something seems too good to be true, it is!
