The Blues Brothers (1980) set a Guinness World Record by destroying 103 cars. For this scene, filmmakers lifted a Ford Pinto 1,200 feet into the air from a helicopter and dropped it. The film’s crashes were 100% practical, with no CGI, just 4,000 pounds of American steel flying.
JUST IN: Footage from Wednesday night showing 160th SOAR Little Birds and Black Hawks deploying Tier 1 operators (likely Delta Force) via fast rope to St. Luke Medical Center in Pasadena, CA.
This was likely a training operation in preparation for the upcoming World Cup.
A couple weeks ago, we were dispatched to the Colonies for a shoplifting in progress. As officers responded to the area, Falcon-1, our Drone as a First Responder (DFR), launched and arrived just as the male fled from loss prevention employees and drove off in his car.
With updates from Falcon-1, officers located and stopped the vehicle, learned this male was a repeat offender at this business, and also had multiple prior convictions for theft - qualifying this theft as a felony. The suspect was booked, property returned, and his car impounded.

What is DFR?
Drone as a First Responder is a public safety program that allows officers (certified through the FAA) to dispatch drones, even autonomously, to 911 or priority calls. Our drones are stationed at strategic locations to be the first to arrive at scenes, often within minutes, providing real-time aerial video and thermal intelligence to officers. This technology greatly improves officer safety and response capability/coordination.
In addition to DFR, UPD has drone operators on every shift who can deploy from their units when necessary. UPD is committed to integrating technologies to enhance public safety, adapt to modern policing practices, and improving operational effectiveness.

DUPLEX FIRE CONTAINED to UNIT of ORIGIN; LADDER TRUCK PROVES CRITICAL
Last night, San Bernardino County Fire firefighters responded to a commercial structure fire on the 1100 block of N. Barton St. in the city of San Bernardino.
The incident occurred within the response area of Fire station 226. Notably, the recent addition of a ladder truck to the fire station (see post from 4/18) played a significant role in the outcome of the incident. The ladder truck crew provided enhanced capabilities, including rapid, vertical ventilation, and vital information from the roof to the crews fighting fire on the interior of the building.
Due to the coordinated efforts of responding crews and the strategic deployment of resources, the fire was contained without damage to the attached unit.
No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.
A total of five engine companies, two truck companies, two battalion chief, one fire investigator, and one public information officer responded to the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Office of the Fire Marshal.
This incident highlights the importance of continued investment in personnel and equipment to ensure the highest level of service and protection for the community.

Effective immediately, Anaheim Global Medical Center has had its Emergency Room Receiving status suspended by the OCEMS. This means no EMS calls are allowed to transport patients to the hospital until further notice.

They were then transported to the BLM Helipad and transferred to ground ambulance and subsequently transported a local hospital.”
🚨#BREAKING: Watch as a NASA research jet made a belly landing when it bursted into flames at after its landing gear apparently failed to deploy
📌#Houston | #Texas
Watch wild footage captured after a NASA WB-57 research aircraft was forced to make a belly landing at Ellington Airport in Houston, Texas, after its landing gear reportedly failed to deploy when it landed flames and sparks can be seen coming from the jet. Emergency responders quickly rushed to the scene as the pilot safely exited the cockpit. NASA later confirmed that a mechanical issue led to a gear-up landing involving one of its WB-57 aircraft. All crew members are safe, and no injuries were reported. Officials say a full investigation into the cause of the incident is underway, with updates to be released as more information becomes available.
Deputies arrested a man and seized a knife, as well as a set of "metal wolverine claws," following a report of the man chasing after children at a #Victorville bus stop on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

It wasn't that long ago that the idea of making a phone call without a landline was considered outlandish, or impossible.
That is, until the Mayor Tom Bradley hatched a plan to make the first cell phone call in L.A. . .just in time for the ‘84 Olympics!
Let's get into it!
From LVMPD Search & Rescue:
“On November 7th, 2025, around 2pm, SAR personnel aboard AIR1 responded to Icebox Canyon to conduct a rescue operation.
Despite poor reception, the PR advised LVMPD Communications that their climbing partner had fell and had a broken leg while on the 3rd pitch of a climbing route in Icebox. Call takers were unable to gather more detailed information due to the poor reception but with what little info we did have AIR1 was launched on a Level 1 response.
AIR1 proceeded to the BLM helipad to pick up two SAR officers who were out conducting training in the area. Once onboard the crew responded to Icebox and located the victim mid face on Refrigerator Wall on the climbing route “La Cierta Edad” and a SAR officer was inserted via hoist below them on a ledge.
Fortunately the victim was in the process of self rescuing via rappel with what was ultimately a dislocated knee but was slow moving. The rescuer was able to assess the injury and package him and his partner for extraction.
AIR1 returned to the scene and extracted all 3 and returned to the BLM helipad where the two climbers were transferred to BLM Rangers.
As a reminder, helicopter rescues in Clark County by this team are a public service. Do not hesitate to call 911 if you become lost, stuck or hurt. We do not want any one to hesitate and get themselves in a more dire situation.
We are fortunate here at LVMPD Search and Rescue to have an incredibly highly trained and skilled team of officers, volunteers, and rescue pilots. We are here 24/7 if you need us.
Any time. Any place.
