SCEAP (pronounced SKIP) is our road safety initiative to have everybody “Stop, Check, Educate/Engage, Act, Promote/Protect”– hence, SCEAP, as a road safety lifestyle
In the next 100 days we’ll be sharing daily Road Safety Awareness tips as we gear up for more SEAP initiatives
Red Devo fans involved in an accident after the @ExpressFCUganda loss in the @FUFAUgandaCup yesterday. 3 people including the club CEO is among the dead.
Your Excellency @KagutaMuseveni, I respectfully appeal for your attention to the urgent matter of road safety in our country.
The photograph below was taken on 1 March 2018 during the visit of the United Nations Secretary‑General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety, Mr. @JeanTodt. He was in Uganda to launch the Road Safety Performance Review Report, a study funded by his office. At my insistence, the consultants who carried out this work were Ugandan professionals to keep context Ugandan. On that same day, Mr. Todt also handed you a copy of the report. This was the second occasion on which I had the honour of engaging you directly on issues of road safety.
Your Excellency, the global body of knowledge and experience clearly shows that road crashes cannot be explained solely by reckless driving. This understanding informed the adoption of United Nations General Assembly Resolution A/RES/74/299, Improving Global Road Safety, in September 2020. The resolution proclaimed the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021–2030, with the target of reducing road traffic deaths and injuries by at least 50 percent by 2030. Some of the relevant recommendations are reflected in the screenshot attached to this post. They are part of the Global Plan for Road Safety. Road crashes have a pattern and as such can be prevented and some countries have successfully reversed the trend using these measures. ROAD CRASHES ARE NOT ACCIDENTS BECAUSE THEY ARE PREVENTABLE.
Your Excellency, the Fountain of Honour under Article 98(1) of the Constitution, I appeal to you to consider the recent road crashes that have left the country deeply shaken:
13 February 2026: Eight people died on the Mbarara–Lyantonde Highway.
8 February 2026: Eight people died along the Mityana–Mubende Highway at Kyakatebe Village in Kassanda District.
27 December 2025: Seven members of the same family perished on the Masaka–Mbarara Highway in Lwengo District.
22 October 2025: Forty‑six people were killed on the Kampala–Gulu Highway at Kitaleba Village near Kiryandongo. In response, you offered five million shillings to each bereaved family and two million shillings to each injured survivor.
Your Excellency, I am certain these gestures were made in good faith and with genuine empathy for the victims. However, they were reactive measures, and such an approach cannot provide a sustainable or effective solution to the persistent problem of road carnage.
It is for this reason that I humbly appeal for your leadership in championing a comprehensive, evidence‑based, and long‑term national strategy to address the systemic causes of road crashes and protect the lives of Ugandans.

@KenyaAirways from UG to Mombasa,thru Nbi!! First, the flight was rescheduled twice; Next best choice? A late-night check_in.
In Nbi,disembark,check out,pick luggage and go thru the process again.Losing money on return, changing flight.
@UG_Airlines,this is definitely yr route.
@SamanthaBarung1@UNOC_UG Thank you for this!
We would like to engage with you on an implementation plan regarding the Stop.Check.Educate/Engage.Act.Promote (SCEAP) Road Safety campaign.
Yesterday, there was gridlock traffic from kyambogo to kireka, cars stuck from 5.30pm to 11:00pm.
We were only lucky that the @UgandaCranes match against Guinea is today.
Hope the @PoliceUg traffic can use yesterday's experience as a dry run to manage traffic today.
