@Kareemfarah23 Your comments always make me pause and think. We can have high expectations when we ask our students to produce quality work, but we should always make sure that we are meeting them on their level so that the work is attainable.
A stunning number of kids in classrooms have lost belief in themselves as learners. That’s what happens when we rush students through skills they don’t fully understand. When we resort to partial credit and completion grades because we have to “keep up with the pacing calendar.”
“I don’t hate it. I just don’t like it at all and it’s terrible.” - Michael Scott, @theofficetv I think he knew about hybrid learning WAY before his time.
Great read for #teachers right now. I ❤️ the focus on asking students’ for #feedback but framing it around glowing & growing! “I started asking them to share a glow & a grow from the week. What did they feel went well? What did we need to work on?” #edchat https://t.co/cGmL5pqRI2
Too all the new teachers out there, I don’t think anything challenged me more than my first few months teaching. It’s tough. It’s why the profession is so rewarding. Embrace the challenge and expect the failures. It’s part of the journey.
@MrHonner@QuantaMagazine I really appreciate the fact that this article joins together polynomials (which I typically think of as continuous functions) with the topics of graph coloring and chromatic number that I address in Discrete Math with my students. Thanks for the extension!
