Doing this tomorrow! I shockingly can always search for that one @cossettej lesson/activity tweet when I remember βI think I saw something I wanted to do!β Thanks for always posting, Joe! #iTeachPhysics
I loved watching groups discuss their way through this introduction to energy production today. Lots of thoughtful conversations driven by their previous experiences and awareness. #iteachphysics
A teacher shared this response that I like, and I think kids see it:
Itβs similar to βwhat does weight lifting have to do with my ability to pass in volleyball?β
While not literally the same skill, it applies and makes a difference.
@dailystem@KatyDornbos Oh, fun idea @KatyDornbos ! How would you expect the laser to scatter? Tiny holes in the center foil? And - is it zinc sulfide? Either way, love the visual & idea!
@KatyDornbos@ChemEd2025@aserkin@ChemEd2019@cossettej I did AMTA multi-week workshops for physics & chem, but nothing other than those intensive courses (my first physics one was back in the summer of 2010). I consider it my most valuable physics PD. And, we have our Chicagoland @PhysicsNW + groups around here that I still attend!
@KatyDornbos@ChemEd2025@aserkin@ChemEd2019@cossettej I remember getting some great pedagogical pieces from there, but quite pricey for no βmaterialsβ cost. The presentations during the main meeting were much shorter, powerpoint style. So, perhaps not as much of a variety?
