@mike_petriello@omoselye0x Canada, too, I believe; it makes sense in places where there’s another popular form of football (easier than saying “association football” and “American football” which are both mouthfuls)
@StatisticUrban@nikicaga The fact there’s a sitting Republican congressman from Miami who endorsed Hillary in 2016 is kinda crazy to me. I guess when that big a chunk of your constituents made that exact change too they’re more chill about it
@jacobfhsmith True, but worth noting that Trump voters are much less likely to disclose their income and there’s a lot fewer respondents who report being high income than you’d expect based on other data on income distribution
@bbalkus@MattZeitlin I imagine a lot of that is geographic proximity—a lot less of a factor now than in the past, but still impacts the colleges people apply to and attend quite a bit
@FuckedUpYogis@kkrespawned I always assumed it was a way of being like “did this person actually work the job they claim they did and were they able to find people who liked them enough to say nice things about their work”
@MattZeitlin Yeah, correlation between “private goods producing industries” as a share of a state’s economy and Republican share of the 2-party vote was 0.781 in 2024, up from just 0.566 in 1996.
@ImNotOwned MSG has to be one of the worst possible places for the president to see a game tbh, between the office buildings and transit hub it’s just maximally disruptive
@mnolangray I’m pretty sure when I looked into it a few years back, the single out of state birthplace/PUMA combination that was largest was Californians in Lake Havasu City lol
@InyoEnjoyer In 2024, more people entered the Times Square-42nd St subway complex than boarded planes at the Atlanta Airport, the world’s busiest (54.2 million vs. 52.5 million); notably, the ATL number includes connecting passengers and the subway figure does not.
@ImNotOwned Yeah it’s a stupid objection to have. Before Trump it was not unheard of for presidents, either. No one says that Ray LaHood sabotaged the Obama administration lol
@Nexus57920763@MikkelsenMuse@ettingermentum Supposedly they do have an era adjustment that gets applied, but they imply that it results in a boost for historic players more often than not
@ettingermentum@nucleararmeddog I think every single one I’ve seen so far has either had LeBron, MJ, Wilt, or Kareem (overwhelming majority have wilt though)
