This is dumb. Labor unions should focus on representing the interests of their members rather than the political activists who have co-opted leadership. @HaleyforMI is the only candidate in this race who has worked to protect and grow auto jobs in Michigan. This is a no-brainer.
The bad news: poll after poll shows the democratic brand is in the tank.
The good news: our talent bench is not just strong. It’s exceptional.
If we want to start winning again—these leaders need to lead the party now.

In case anyone is wondering what happened to the kids in your grade school class who asked all the questions and reminded the teacher homework wasn't assigned--they're here at this suburban DC youth soccer coaches meeting doing their damn thing.
Have a good conversation with the Capitol Hill comms staffers you know today. Because they'll be talking about staffing the boss tonight for the next year.
@ringwiss@thomascbowen@MattGlassman312@KDbyProxy Only if the reported rule made amendments in order. They could use a self-executing amendment in the text of the rule such that adoption of the rule was adoption of the amendment.
@ringwiss@thomascbowen@MattGlassman312@KDbyProxy I just mean that those of us especially worried about the debt limit this year can't bet on beating the Speaker with parliamentary procedure. I don't think the folks he's worried about give him a pass when he has tools to cut it off.
@ringwiss@thomascbowen@MattGlassman312@KDbyProxy Rules, completely controlled by the Speaker under normal circumstances, partially by the folks who want concessions for raising the debt limit now, can amend the special order and report it out, e.g. add in a self executing amendment to drop in language directing partial payments
Now that the game is over, I can safely criticize @POTUS for not wagering ending the nuclear program for another pallet of cash on the outcome of the game.
FY95: fully appropriated by the end of FY94--before election
FY07: short term CR after a deal couldn't be reached
FY11: short terms until 8th CR funded the gov from 4/15-9/30
FY19: the outgoing majority handed over a government shutdown.
Precedent: declining responsibility
“Since 1994, control of the House has changed hands in four midterm election cycles (1994, 2006, 2010, and 2018). NEVER before has the outgoing House majority passed an omnibus appropriations bill during the lame-duck session following the election.” https://t.co/FZo9YBsGc0
