Toxic PGIMER pretending well on residents’ welfare
https://t.co/lM8JnysBNV
PGIMER Chandigarh is set to institutionalise regular dialogue with its residents, with the institute's Director Vivek Lal calling for periodic interactions to ensure concerns related to workload, stress, and workplace well-being are addressed.
What is the use of such useless meetings?
Just to get tea, a few biscuits and a photo op?
PGIMER did nothing to regulate duty hours so far despite Hindustan Times exposure last year
Also PGIMER has been consistently refusing to provide information on the number of students who quit and that took psychiatric counselling. It shows here is a lot to hide
Instead of conducting such useless meetings it is high time for PGIMER to implement URS 1992 duty hour guidelines strictly and prepare duty roster based on 48 hours work week and a mandatory week off
Let PGIMER initiate strict disciplinary action on HoD that do not maintain duty hour data or squeeze residents 24-36 hours cruelly
Let first PGIMER stop using residents as just blood sampler for the entire first year
Let PGIMER stop preaching and start teaching theory subjects to PGI residents instead of crushing in an illegitimate and inhumane manner under unbearable workload
Let PGI define role and responsibilities of resident doctors to ensure they are not used as multi-purpose health worker
Meetings never solve sufferings of resident doctors but a will to act
I can say with full confidence that working conditions of PGIMER resident will never change for coming 20 yaers also under current management that loves to exploit the residents using degree, internla marks and thesis as blackmailing weapons @pgichd
It is disheartening to see a hospital managment is chasing a young meritorious medical candidate just for issues that could have been solved by discussions.
Every grievance of Dr.Asiya such as seniors bullying and inhumane duty hours are worth to be noted and needed immediate action. But it seems college didn't do enough to sort out the things at the initial level itself
Let's hope college withdraw this case and allow Dr.Asiya Khana to continue her course smoothly by having a broad minded discussion

Ragging Complaint= Failed 3 Times
AIIMS Jodhpur Convocation Controversy
During the AIIMS Jodhpur convocation, Dr. Vikrant Sharma reportedly attempted to speak after receiving his degree but microphone was switched off and the Director intervened to stop his speech.
Despite this, Dr. Sharma stated: "I have received my degree, but not justice. Justice is still pending."
Dr. Vikrant Sharma is an https://t.co/Ht8gljOZw2. Neurosurgery (Batch 2020–23) graduate from AIIMS Jodhpur.
He alleges that after filing a ragging complaint in 2021, some senior faculty members retaliated against him &failed three consecutive times due to academic victimisation.
According to his allegations, an independent examination later found him fit to pass.
He has now been awarded his degree after the fourth attempt.
However, he maintains that he should have been declared passed in his very first attempt, and is seeking correction of his academic record and justice.

Pediatrics department of NIRF ranked two medical college, PGIMER doesn’t have attendance system of its resident doctors
Why? Is that not a crucial document to check duty hour’s compliance?
Yes It is. That’s why it is not maintained so that PG children can be squeezed 100-120 hours per week off record till they quit their dream course or become a psychiatric patient
No one has a minimum professionalism and work ethics to maintain a basic essential document but expects the resident doctors to work 36 to 72 hours without food & sleep
PGIMER lectures the world on sleep deprivation & its effects where it squeezes it’s won resident doctors without any ethics
Academic section too has no information on the same!!
Shame on PGIMER. Shame on PGIMER!!! No will to reduce workload of suffering JRs& SRs
There are two crucial things all medical colleges fails to do / comply including PGIMER, Chandigarh
1) Regular workload audit must be done to ascertain whether the existing manpower is enough to handle existing patients’ load or more to be hired. If there is a need for recruitment how many nurses. Junior residents, senior residents, GDMOs need to be hired? But PGIMER refuses to provide information on this
2) All medical colleges must maintain duty hour’s compliance data on junior & senior resident’s duty hours. This is also not followed by any medical college including PGIMER
Toxic & incompetent senior doctors squeezing young doctors 24-36 hours in the pretext of exigency that exist only for PG & SS students all 365 days round the clock whereas nursing staff to director leaves in 6 to 8 hours as exigency doesn’t impact them.
Shame on PGIMER for giving an evasive response on crucial information that is related to mental & physical health of resident doctors and in turn legitimate interests of patients
Same senior doctors that fail to do their duties expect 100% perfection while working 36-72 hours without food & sleep. Selfish greedy hypocrites that worry about only their chair and wallet not about sufferings of junior doctors
Please look at the RTI response of PGIMER, Chandigarh to Dr.Hariharan who has been battling for justice for the past one year. First the PGIMER fails to recognize him as a current resident doctor
Secondly it says duty hours of residents shall not normally exceed 12 hours. I wonder what kind of manipulation of language is this.
Exceptions may arise due to patient care exigencies and institutional requirements.
What is the definition of patient care exigency? Earthquake, fire accident, pandemic or toxic HoDs unwillingness to implement duty hour rules?
How does such exigency exist only for resident doctors all 365 days round the clock not for other staff?
What are the institutional requirements that may demand squeezing of resident doctors 24 to 36 hours?
Then the response takes us to a nodal faculty member from psychiatry department for mental health support, Sports complex, swimming pool & gymnasium
How a resident can go for Gym & swimming pool whereas he struggles to find time to sleep & eat? Is PGIMER mocking the pain of suffering PG children?
So pathetic? PGIMER has no backbone to tell us to strictly follow residency scheme guidelines. It indirectly says we squeeze residents till their mental health is destroyed and we appoint a faculty from psychiatry to handle him.
Resident doctor conditions of PGI were exposed by TOI. Still it fails to fix the cruel & inhumane duty hours of resident doctors. Instead of that it is playing with words and escaping through loopholes
PGIMER shall realize that the awareness among parents and students is increasing and it can’t exploit residents doctors as per the willingness of incompetent& law breaking HoDs
Time has come for PGIMER to implement residency guidelines strictly than presenting a fake narrative using decorative English words.
Extreme human right violation in the form of inhumane duty hours at AIIMS Nagpur Paediatrics
Dear parents please be aware of cruel reality that is confessed on record. On record mein itna cruel hai tho off paper mein hamara bachon ko kya hoga?
Residency scheme issued by Ministry of health & family welfare in 1992 caps 48 hours a week for a junior resident which is 192 hours a month whereas law violators forces at AIIMS Nagpur squeezes our children 540 hours a month with 15 times 24 hours duties
No shame!!!! No fear!!!!No guilt!!!! No humanity at all!
Where are the regulating bodies and human rights commissions?
Do people at AIIMS Nagpur have special powers to break government norms and crush our young children for 24 hours cruelly multiple times??
I kindly request doctor associations, freelancers, human right organizations, any responsible citizen to take this matter very seriously and do something to save our children from deaths and quitting
Now the same AIIMS tell duty rosters contains personal information of residents. So it can’t be disclosed.
Last year the duty roster of AIIMS Nagpur was public document and I have it. This year it has become a private document
What kind of personal information of residents a duty roster can have except name? Contact Number, E-mail Id, blood group or address? Nothing. Nothing
This is just a lame excuse to deny information. Also 98% duty rosters across India do not have any duty timings. They have only resident’s name and posting location
1) If a senior PG forces you to work, call UGC anti ragging line 1800-180-5522.
2) If toxic HoD forces you to work long illegal duty hours that puts patient care under risk, complain at the police station, NMC and CPGRAM.
Justice needed for resigned DM resident of PGIMER
A classical judgment of Punjab & Haryana High court can help a lot of resident doctors that are forced to resign under faculty toxicity and inhumane duty hours
In this judgment court has revoked the resignation of a Ph.D scholar who was forced to resign due to faculty harassment and allowed him to continue the PhD
Source: https://t.co/mwhrDaBKrg
We have one such case from our reputed PGIMER Chandigarh in the past who has been continuously fighting for justice since 2024. .He was forced to resign as DM Intensive care medicine resident in based on unfounded allegations. Interestingly this happened only after he raised questions on corruption and involuntary resignation was accepted within 8 hours too.
Now the time has come to constitute an independent panel with non - PGIMER people as members to investigate the allegations thoroughly and reinstate him as DM resident back
All junior & senior residents that were forced to resign due to cruel duty hours & faculty toxicity shall initiate action . No one shall resign due to toxicity & illegitimate duty hours
1) PGIMER Chandigarh Academic section doesn’t have any data on actual duty hours & week off junior resident doctors.
2) PGIMER even doesn’t have any clue on the document that is maintained in each department to record actual duty hours of resident doctors
Why? Because PGIMER has neither any ethics or professionalism or any concern on overworked & sleep deprived young doctors . So many are quitting PGIMER every year and taking psychiatric counselling. But PGIMER refuses to give information on that citing privacy as an excuse
PGIMER has rank 2 in medical category among around 800 medical colleges of India
As HoDs are busy in squeezing young doctors for 24-36 hours without week off and academic section do not have A4 sheets to maintain the data, Dean & Director are busy in attending mental health online seminars, let’s give them clue on what is happening inside PGIMER
We need to recall that NMC requested all medical colleges to keep data on duty hours of resident doctors
Shocking information from toxic JIPMER
Toxic JIPMER has scared away 276 dream filled talented, meritorious young doctors and made 200 as psychiatric patients by its toxic duty hours, PG ragging and faculty humiliation in front of nurses and patients
No department in JIPMER maintains actual duty hours & week off data of our children so that they can squeeze our children 24 to36 hours at a stretch under unbearable workload till they need psychiatric counselling for depression.
JIPMER doesn’t have even a little bit of shame to confess that it doesn’t maintain duty hour’s data of PG students.
Please be aware all these 200 PG students that took psychiatric counselling in JIPMER were healthy only before joining JIPMER. Who spoiled their mental health? What action was taken on the responsible HoDs & Dean??
Do we send our healthy young children to JIPMER to become psychiatric patients in the name of rigorous training? why duty hours & week off rules are not followed ?
Dear fellow Indians, please be cautious before joining your child in JIPMER for PG. No HoD / Dean or consultant is worried about our children.
We are lucky if they don’t bully along with senior PGs. All human rights violations such as sleep deprivation food deprivation (and no time to brush, bathe and eat ) happen on PG students under the name of rigorous training with the blessings of toxic HoDs that has no knowledge on duty hour rules , importance of documentation, punishment for human rights violation, or human body capacity.
Don't rely HoD or anyone in JIPMER for the safety of your child. They have no idea where our child is as they do not maintain data on duty hours or intended to do .
Our child may be inside the ward / hostel or outside hospital. They don't know and care at all.
For parents& PG students
1) If seniors forces to work in illegal duty hours ( more than 48 hours a week) or deny week off please complain to nearby police station or to UGC anti ragging helpline 1800-180-5522
2) If HoD itself toxic and a rule breaker , please complain to nearby police station to file a FIR under BNS146 (Unlawful compulsory labour)
3) If any senior / HoD / professors / consultants publicly humiliate in front of nurses & patients you can file a FIR under section 352 for intentional insult which would attract two years Jail. Let them serve prisoners sometime.
4) Please insist your son / daughter send live location every 6 hours so that we know the actual location. Mostly it will show inside the hospital 16 - 36 hours all 365 days.
Let's eliminate toxicity from our medical education. Let's save our children from toxic people to keep them alive and healthy
Anaesthesia department of PGIMER agrees on paper that it has illegitimate duty hours of 288 hours a month whereas residency scheme 1992 guidelines stipulates only 192 hours a month
What about the ARD, PGIMER and tight lipped senior doctors? None of them has any concern on overworked, sleep deprived food deprived junior doctors
Exploitative PGIMER brags and boasts about structured exploitation of 12 hours using same number of residents without hiring additional regular junior and senior residents. Also PGIMER has been always resisting to give information on number of residents that quit the course and took psychiatric counselling.
PGIMER is famous for illegal & inhumane duty hours & unbearable workload of residents
NMC sets 12 hour as the maximum whereas PGIMER makes it as default. By the way what about success rate of surgeries and satisfaction level of poor patients? No one has any clue
PGIMER neither maintains duty hour’s compliance data nor conducts workload audits. Busy in squeezing junior residents 24 to 36 hours till they run away from the Institute or become psychiatric patients
Dear parents, please be cautious while joining your child in PG in JIPMER. JIPMER won't worry about anything about our child. Even they don't know he is inside or outside the hospital. Not intended to maintain any record on the same. Please track your child that he / she works within human capacity and gets sound sleep of 8 hours , three meals and a week off. JIPMER has no right to snatch our constitutional rights. Rule book for PG student is residency scheme guidelines of 48 hours duty with a week off.
Hi all fellow Indians, please be learned that most clinical department of south India’s toxic hub (for PG students) JIPMER doesn’t have any record on week off given to PG students (means they never gave) and no data on total duty hours done by the PG ( Means they are being squeezed illegally & unethically from24-72 hours till the last drop their blood is sucked to ensure JRs visit the psychiatry ward for depression or quit the course)
Whatis the very big challenge or fund involved in maintaining such crucial data? AnA4 sheet?
Only legal things can be maintained on record, not illegal duty hours & no week off for the first 6 months
I wonder how the JIPMER dares to violate government norms on duty hours so easily without any fear of being implicated?
Concern regarding ARD 2026 elections at PGIMER Chandigarh:
The official election notice named the Dean (Academics) as Chief Election Commissioner. However, as per ARD 1975 Rules & Regulations, the Dean (Academics) is not eligible to hold this position.
Resident doctors, overworked in PGIMER, Chandigarh. Nobody raising the voice since working extra hours is often glorified, sidelining mental and physical health of resident doctors.
