Currently reading a bit about brand building, and it reminds me of something I wrote last year. Never realized that so many people put so much time and effort, into being what is essentially a monkey dancing for peanuts... https://t.co/3iGPFXZXqF
@Sumohax0r@aikisteve@Tesla Yes, I too noticed the Defender and thought it might have been an unmarked official vehicle emitting something the Tesla picked up, but would not have guessed flickering lights. I wonder if the Defender owner has noticed that Teslas pull over when they get close?
@DocDaZeus@aphysicist Nordic countries are not socialist. They are capitalist economies with a highly efficient and well-functioning social welfare system that people support with their taxes.
@zacharyvalles@Keller@ligma_sigma You are correct, they likely did think it was a good decision at the time, but not sure they do now. Not going to speculate on Apple's decision, don't know anything about their effort, but what Tesla clearly shows is that long term, investing in domestic production pays off.
@zacharyvalles@Keller@ligma_sigma Long term big picture, investing in domestic companies to develop technology makes sense, even if it takes longer to "scale". That is what Tesla did, and it worked. If Apple had spent all of those R&D dollars here, other US companies could have benefited, even though it was axed.
@zacharyvalles@Keller Develop a purpose built vehicle with Rivian like Amazon did with their vans, or with Oshkosh like the USPS, or with Ford... Amazon's Rivian deal was in 2019, first vans on the road in 2022. How many Zeekers in service now, 5 years later? As @ligma_sigma said, zero good reasons...
@derekmathers@JoshuaKushner@netcapgirl Very underrated, for sure. Back around 2018 visited Steamboat Hot Springs in Reno and passed by the Ormat Geothermal facility, pretty impressive in person. A good alternative to nuclear for DCs west of the rockies, but not needed if engineered efficiently. https://t.co/niBp7weVDI
@derekmathers@JoshuaKushner@netcapgirl Certainly better than the current approach, but there are a lot of in the DC changes that can alleviate the need for geothermal power and eliminate excess heat generation. Is this something you came up with?
@evrgn11112231@HatfieldCapital@atelicinvest That's a good question, and you aren't the only one asking. It can be private AND hosted, which is what makes sense for 95% of potential users, because hardware and all of the software that sits in front of the LLM is not easy to architect, nor cheap to develop and provision...
@Gaurab Instead of waiting, build a closed loop geothermal plant...which as an added bonus, doesn't require a constant supply of gas. Also, use HVDC in the datacenter, less AC-DC conversion losses and less heat = less power. There are alternatives, just have to think outside the box...
@REM__BEN The guy at the rear is wearing a Dunn Edwards Paint t-shirt, so this is California, which also explains the short and very sloping driveway. The crude mock-up of the car was probably made by the owner in frustration, as concrete is about to be poured and he knows it won't work.
@AtlasXThugged "Had I left it to chance, depending on activists coming forward to join us, I would have never succeeded." Such an important point, because the most capable people typically aren't attracted to politics. Political office should be seen as a responsibility, not a career path...
Without this global town square for free speech, a lot of important things never would’ve seen daylight.
Real-time information governments tried to bury. Scientific debate that was actively censored. Voices that would’ve stayed silenced forever.
Respect to @elonmusk for being the man in the arena when it actually counted. 🫡🙏
@aphysicist Native American tribes had War Chiefs and Peace Chiefs, each served a purpose. Tim focused on manufacturing and shareholder returns, funneling billions to PRC suppliers (effectively funding the competition), while weaponizing the app store. Now, innovation can be the focus again.
@JTLonsdale Most outside the PRC would agree about Mao, but you're preaching to the choir. Reaching people who need to hear this is the challenge. Those trying to prevent it see themselves as defenders of a system they benefit from. Cognitive bias and preservation of power are the issues...
@earthcurated This is Europe, look closely and you will notice the blue EU country license plate designation. China uses Blue and Green plates. And, the red car in the second row shows a Citroën logo, and is not sold in China. They are trying to improve, but greenwashing is not helpful...
@RDKLInc Amen. Such a waste recycling perfectly good computers. Just dumped several iPads, a few MacBooks and a couple of iPhones at BestBuy in order to clear out storage space. Nothing physically wrong with any of them, other than planned obsolescence as a business model...
