Woke up to a text from home with this image of two of the greatest people I know on the front of the Daily Mirror, thanks to @lucethornton - Sgt Bernard Morgan from Crewe and Jack Mortimer from Leeds, both aged 100 and travelling with @PoppyLegion
Another incredible day with our @PoppyLegion veterans at Arromanches & the British Normandy Memorial, remembering all those who served and sacrificed on D-Day.
At 20 years old, Bernard Morgan was the youngest RAF Sergeant to land in Normandy on D-Day, and one of the first to discover the war had ended. 🇬🇧
80 years on, Bernard’s memory is still wonderfully intact. Hear his story here. 🎥

The stories of our DDay heroes can never be forgotten & I will ensure this year’s #DDay80 commemorations deliver on that promise.
I was proud to join veterans on HMS Belfast today, alongside @GillianKeegan, as they inspired a new generation of schoolchildren with their bravery.
Thank you so much to @BentleyMotors @crewealexfc & Crewe Royal British Legion for helping D-Day veteran Bernard Morgan celebrate his 100th birthday - you did him proud!
Please join us in sending birthday wishes to D-Day veteran Bernard Morgan who turns 100 today 🎂

Many happy returns Bernard!
What a magnificent century!!!
Wishing Bernard Morgan a very happy 100th birthday today.
A D-Day veteran, Bernard is the grandfather of former @DerbyshireCCC cricketer @pborrington
A huge thank you to Lee Bell and all at @crewealexfc for the visit this afternoon. Lee could not have been more generous and we are very grateful for his time during what is an especially busy period. Thank you! #CreweAlex
'Numbers - @DerbyshireCCC 1-365'
328 - father and son @TonyBorrington and @pborrington played a combined 328 all formats matches for Derbyshire. Only four father and son combinations have played more matches for the county...
Today for the Royal British Legion’s Manchester Poppy Day we were joined by Armed Forces personnel, veterans and volunteers who handed out poppies and collected donations across the city.
